Live Commentary

  1. - Ok, so that will do for the first session, join us at 12pm British time for the second practice session.

  2. - So from a British point of view, Hamilton was second, while Button was eleventh.

  3. - The drivers are now having a few practice starts on the track, not Rosberg, he is back in the paddock and looks very indifferent about his effort.

  4. - Vettel was looking like he was going to set the quickest time, but he lost time on the final sector. It is a German who sets the quickest time though, Nico Rosberg clocks in at 1.28.952. For the tenth time this season, he is the fastest man in a practice seassion.

  5. - Just two and half minutes left now.

  6. - Has the free practice session caused you to have a change of heart on your Formula One fantasy team? Click here to check you team

  7. - We are back underway. The steward who removed the astroturf from the track gave it a big sniff. Why would you want to sniff something which Formula One cars have been skidding over?

  8. - Alot of astroturf carpet has been ripped up by the number of drivers coming off of the track. Turns three and four are the most problematic areas.

  9. - Championship leader, Jenson Button, is out on the track at the moment, looking to move up from ninth place.

  10. - Last year's GP2 race in Turkey, Bruno Senna ran over a dog which ruined his race, no sign of dogs today.

  11. - Vettel goes fastest...for about two seconds, Ruben Barichello is now leading...wait a minute, now it is Lewis Hamilton.

  12. - Raikkonen and Massa have finally got a Ferrari around the track, and they go fourth and first respectively.

  13. - We have a new chip leader, Jarno Trulli has clocked in at 1.29.983. As the practice goes on, the dust will past and these lap times will come tumbling down.

  14. - Both of the Ferrari boys, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa have both spun their cars as well. Every car is out on the track at the moment.

  15. - Nakajima has clocked in two quick times which are good enough for second place in the practice.

  16. - Lewis is not going to slow down though, he is down to 1.30 now.

  17. - The track is extremely dusty and the drivers will have to slow down a little, we have already seen Glock and Kovalinen spin off of the track.

  18. - Lewis takes a second off of that time.

  19. - Lewis goes round in 1.33, last year's pole qualification time was 1.29. He is now onto his second of his five laps.

  20. - So Lewis Hamilton is going for a full lap after a one lap warmup.

  21. - While turn seven is the place to use KERS, turn eight is the turn which is a nightmare for drivers. G forces on the turn can reach 3.5-4 and at the end of the weekend, drivers struggle to hold their heads up, suffering with stiff necks.

  22. - Rubens Barricehllo has been by far the busier driver so far, no doubt wanting to prove his detractors wrong and haul himself back into championship contention.

  23. - All the cars have been out on the track now and listening to the drivers comments, turn seven is the place to use the Kenetic Energy Reproduction System (or KERS to us).

  24. - Jenson Button will be the hot favourite this weekend, but the hot talking point of the weekend will be the fact that nine teams have decided to enter the 2010 season, so long as the FIA meet their demands.

  25. - Good morning everyone and welcome to LIVE coverage of the first free practice session of the day.
