  1. 10:45 - There's only a week to go now before the next race in Bahrain. Be sure to join us again as this intriguing season continues in the desert.

  2. 10:45 - The championship now looks like this. Alonso 18, Raikkonen 16, Hamilton 14, Heidfeld 10, Massa/Fisichella 7

  3. 10:43 - Alonso, Hamilton and Raikkonen take to the podium.

  4. 10:43 - Both McLaren drivers are congratulated by Ron Dennis and Norbert Haug in parc ferme as well they should be. The last time McLaren won a race was the Brazilian GP of 2005, where Juan Pablo Montoya and Raikkonen also finsihed one-two.

  5. 56/56 - Nick Heidfeld takes fourth ahead of the disappointing Massa. Fisichella, Trulli and Kovalainen complete the top ten.

  6. 56/56 - HAMILTON HOLDS OFF RAIKKONEN FOR SECOND!!!!! What a mature performance by the Brit in only his second race. It's the best result of his career too.

  7. 56/56 - ALONSO WINS!!!!! His first win since joining McLaren!!!!! A flawless performance!

  8. 55/56 - Raikkonen is now only eight tenths of a second behind Hamilton!!!!!!

  9. 55/56 - Fernando Alonso starts his final lap. Victory is surely in the bag.

  10. 54/56 - Two to go and the gap is now 1.2 seconds! What a finish this will be!

  11. 53/56 - Three to go and the gap is just 1.7 seconds now!!!

  12. 52/56 - Raikkonen takes even more out of Hamilton. The gap is down to 2.2 seconds now!

  13. 51/56 - Nico Rosberg's retirement was caused by a hydraulic failure.

  14. 51/56 - Raikkonen is finding all the time in the heavy braking zones at the end of the lap. The gap comes down to 2.8 seconds!

  15. 50/56 - The Hondas dispatched and Hamilton's advantage over Raikkonen is only 3.1 seconds now.

  16. 49/56 - Raikkonen takes 1.3 seconds out of Hamilton in two laps. He is now only 3.8 seconds down!

  17. 47/56 - Raikkonen has taken the gap to Hamilton down to 5.1 seconds. He still has to lap both Hondas before he can charge at the McLaren, but Kimi is coming!!!!

  18. 46/56 - KUBICA SPINS OFF AT TURN SEVEN! He keeps the BMW Sauber going through the gravel and gets back on the track, having lost a place and dropped to 15th. He scatters stones all over the racing line.

  19. 45/56 - Hamilton has dropped to 18 seconds behind Alonso. We saw this in Australia - he just doesn't seem to like the hard tyres he is on at the moment very much.

  20. 44/56 - His retirement mean Fisichella, Trulli and Kovalainen move up to sixth, seventh and eighth.

  21. 43/56 - NICO ROSBERG RETIRES FROM SIXTH PLACE IN HIS WILLIAMS! Terrible luck for the German. He had driven superbly. It is a technical problem.

  22. 42/56 - Heidfeld pits and keeps fourth place - ahead of Massa.

  23. 41/56 - Raikkonen is in from the lead. He will easily keep third once the stops shake themselves out.

  24. 40/56 - Massa comes in on the same lap. He exits behind Fisichella in sixth. Will it be enough to vault Heidfeld when the German stops for the final time?

  25. 40/56 - Alonso pits from the lead and his time of 7.2 seconds will get him easily to the end. He drops only to second behind Raikkonen.

  26. 39/56 - Massa goes wide at turn eight. It looked like he lost concentration as he adjusted his brake balance. Not what he needs right now. It probably cost him half a second.

  27. 38/56 - Here's why. He was lighter on fuel. He pits for 7.6 seconds and exits in fifth - behind Massa. That looks to be his victory chances gone.

  28. 36/56 - Hamilton has brought Alonso's lead down to eight seconds.

  29. 35/56 - David Coulthard is out of the race. That brake failure proved terminal. He had been running 11th.

  30. 34/56 - Massa has really got the hammer down over the last five laps. He is now right on the tail of Heidfeld as the pair come up to lap Kubica's BMW Sauber.

  31. 32/56 - David Coulthard has radioed the Red Bull pit, telling them his brake pedal is rubbing against the steering collum. Unusual.

  32. 30/56 - Williams are having a good race. We've all seen how well Rosberg is going, but Alex Wurz' lap times are on a par with his team-mate and he has closed right in on Heikki Kovalainen, who is ninth.

  33. 28/56 - Half-distance and it's strange that Massa was able to show such speed in qualifying but yet cannot get the gap to fourth place Heidfeld down at all. It stands at 2.5 seconds.

  34. 26/56 - Here's why! Alonso is stuck behind Vitantonio Liuzzi's Toro Rosso. He shakes his fist at the Italian as he nails him on the brakes.

  35. 26/56 - Hamilton continues to pile the pressure on. He gets the lead down to 8.4 seconds. Alonso cannot respond!

  36. 25/56 - Robert Kubica has recovered well. He is now running 13th, ahead of a long train of cars that includes both Super Aguris, both Hondas and David Coulthard.

  37. 24/56 - Hamilton is really knuckling down. He now has nine seconds over Raikkonen in third and has got the gap to Alonso down to ten seconds! What a drive. Can he close in even further?

  38. 22/56 - Hamilton has is consistently lapping a second quicker than leader Alonso. The Spaniard's lead is down to 12 seconds.

  39. 20/56 - Hamilton is in from the lead. He exits at least three seconds up on Raikkonen. Good work from McLaren.

  40. 19/56 - Rosberg pits from fourth.

  41. 18/56 - Raikkonen is in from third as well. 10 seconds drops him behind Kovalainen's Renault. Can he get ahead of Hamilton in this round of stops?

  42. 18/56 - He has! Alonso pits from the lead. 8.2 seconds gets him out in third, behind new leader Lewis Hamilton and Nick Heidfeld.

  43. 17/56 - Fernando Alonso's McLaren radio has broken. The team look pensive. Has he seen his pit board telling him to come in on the next lap?

  44. 16/56 - Massa pits from fifth! He drops to tenth behind Mark Webber's Red Bull. Expect everyone in now.

  45. 14/56 - Spyker say Christijan Albers' retirement was caused by overheating after he got stuck in third gear.

  46. 13/56 - Alex Wurz puts a great move on David Coulthard around the outside of the Red Bull at turn four. That's 11th place.

  47. 12/56 - He gets back onto the track but has dropped to the back of the pack.

  48. 11/56 - Does Kubica have a problem? Almost certainly. He comes into the pits.

  49. 11/56 - ROSBERG SHOOTS PAST KUBICA FOR SIXTH! HE SHOT BY!

  50. 10/56 - Alonso's lead is now up to 11 seconds. He is really motoring ano nobody can do anything about him.

  51. 8/56* - Dreadful luck for Spyker. You travel halfway round the world and see both cars retire after seven laps. Nice.

  52. 7/56* - Christijan Albers retires from the race in the pit-lane with what looks like an engine problem. His Ferrari engine is on fire but his Spyker mechanics extinguish it quickly.

  53. 6/56* - Two nice passing moves take place down the field. Alex Wurz passes Scott Speed for fifth while Rubens Barrichello, who started in the pit-lane, passes his Honda team-mate Jenson Button for 17th.

  54. 5/56* - MASSA DIVES PAST HIM INTO SECOND AT TURN FOUR.... NO!! HE SLIDES EVEN WIDER, LEAVING HIS BRAKING WAY TOO LATE AND GOING OFF ONTO THE GRASS AND ALMOST THE GRAVEL! Raikkonen slips through and so does Nick Heidfeld's BMW Sauber. Massa drops to fifth.

  55. 5/56* - Hamilton locks his front right wheel into turn one. He'll have to defend himself from Massa in a few corners...

  56. 4/56* - Alonso's lead is now five seconds!

  57. 4/56* - Massa is going to have another try at turn one on Hamilton... He's not close enough this time though.

  58. 3/56* - MASSA HAS A GO INTO TURN FOUR... HE DOES IT... NO! HE RUNS A LITTLE WIDE AND HAMILTON RE-TAKES SECOND. RAIKKONEN TRIES TO PASS HIS TEAM-MATE ROUND THE OUTSIDE AT THE NEXT TURN, BUT MASSA CHOPS HIM OFF!

  59. 3/56* - Massa is right in Hamilton's slipstream. The Briton defends the inside, so Massa goes to the outside. HE CHALLENGES... BUT HAMILTON HANGS HIM OUT TO DRY AND NOW RAIKKONEN EVEN HAS A LOOK AT TAKING HIS TEAM-MATE.

  60. 2/56* - Takuma Sato passes Liuzzi at the final hairpin as the Italian dives into the pits. He gets a front-wing change. It was clearly damaged in the incident with Sutil.

  61. 2/56* - End of lap one and Alonso goes over the line with a seconc lead from Hamilton. Then it's Massa, Raikkonen, Heidfeld, Kubica, Rosberg, Fisichella, Trulli and Kovalainen.

  62. 1/56* - There's an accident at turn four. Liuzzi and Sutil collide and the Spyker spins out into the gravel. He retires. Fisichella's Renault takes a trip across the grass too but gets back on the tarmac.

  63. 1/56* - HAMILTON GOES PAST RAIKKONEN FOR THIRD ON THE INSIDE.... AND TAKES MASSA FOR SECOND ROUND THE OUTSIDE AT TURN TWO!!! FANTASTIC!!!!

  64. 1/56* - Massa gets away well, so do all of the first six down to the first corner... FERNANDO ALONSO GOES INTO THE LEAD BY BRAKING LATER THAN MASSA INTO TURN ONE!!!!

  65. 0/56* - We're go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  66. 0/56* - Everybody is on the grid and ready to go. 56 laps ahead of the 22 drivers!!!!!!!!

  67. 0/56* - Pole-sitter Felipe Massa leads the field awat on the formation lap. The tyre blankets come off... and Jarno Trulli is the only driver on the hard tyres. Will his gamble pay off?

  68. 08:56 - Rubens Barrichello - who was sent to the back of the grid for an engine change in qualifying - will start from the pit lane.

  69. 08:55 - That track surface could convince a lot of drivers to start on the soft Bridgestone tyres as they will generate heat more easily than the hards.

  70. 08:53 - Four hours of overnight rain has washed away much of the rubber from the track surface, leaving it much more slippery than yesterday. It is now dry though.

  71. 08:50 - The sun is out, the sky is blue, Happy Easter to all of you. Well that's the cheese out of the way. Now lets get the facts straight.

  72. 06:00 - We'll have LIVE comments and scoring from Sepang from 08:50 CET onwards with the race due to start at 09:00.
