Manchester United Message Board
Is it the sign of the times that you united would rather spend ridiculus amounts of money on players than produce good quality home grown talent.Or is it that United can not attract good quality young players anymore or is it even that the junior academy set up is very poor.
After Bardsley sale to Sunderland it shows the confidence United have in their home grown players. To be fair though Liverpool and Chelsea have the same stance they would rather spend money than bring on their juniors.
I'd like to admit to being an unashamed glory hunter, but the truth is I am just a complete and utter coward.
I spent my formative years in Oldham. In the mid 70s almost everyone on our street was either a city fan, or believe it or not, leeds scum. It was the glory days for both clubs. Everyone except Peter Wood my next door neighbour. He was a couple of years older, and much much bigger than me. It was made quite clear that my life was in danger if I chose any other team than United. Having seen what the red hoards did to carrow road there was really no option. I got on the bus to OT and that was that.
So there you have it, if people can have a go at folks for coming from Alti FFS, then I'm in pieces. (it's walking distance btw, just. I've never done there and back, but I've walked home from many a night match. they didnt have night buses then).
Ne'then, can we have an advance on the 5 we've got, or do you know absolutely nothing about your own club ?
Ha. You know when you've won the argument when City fans have to resort to that old chestnut! Well said, Lester.
Before the same crap is levelled at me I'm a Mancunian, but I'm afraid you've got me on the never being "around when the times were tough". I'm only twenty-seven, so you're correct about that.
On the other hand as a City fan you'd have to be at least in your mid forties to remember anything but tough times.
Plenty to say lester but with no real bite.
You can say what ever you like however I will always have the upper hand. That is because I lester come from and live in Manchester. Yes Lester born and bread mancunian.
It must realy bait you that you dont come from manchester and you are only looked at as a glory seeker who would say they are a United fan than go and support their local team. It is a pity but always remember you can never and will never be a manc. So to all the true mancunian United fans your just another glory seeking wan ker who was never around when the times were tough.
Just think Lester how good it would feel to say "I am Mancunian and proud".
Oh well unlucky. Glory seeker.
Colin Bell may be ?. No, he started at Bury.
Frank Swift is the only one that anyone could possibly have heard of, and sadly of course it's not because of his 19 full england caps.
Remember Paul Lake ??, I dont. He got a knee injury with tony cascarino, else would have been a cert for a full cap, says wikipedia.
So, Swift, Donachie, Corrigan, SWP, Richards are the only post war players from the man city academy to play for their country.
We've produced more than that since 1999.
Hey wayne, we still havent had an advance on corrigan, donachie, swp and richards as internationals that emerged from the manchester pity youth team in the last half a century,
I'd ask on here
but there wouldnt be much point in that, would there.
So go on then, as we all know fuck all about united according to you, fill us in on what the berties have done for the game since colour tv came in,
(one of my stock phrases is "there are no real city fans, there are only anti-United fans", based on the fact that they all know far more about us than they do their own miserable club).
Jesus talk about pot and kettle.
Syco since when have united not gone out and bought every player in there team. Trying to think which out of Uniteds starting 11 this season came through the ranks. Got to Giggs and Brown then lost my way when I realised the rest totalled over £150 million.
