Manchester United Message Board
I don't want to start some sort of mass-panic, but I just read this and had this feeling in the pit of my stomach I haven't felt since back in my school days, when I was caught red handed copying my homework from one of the nerdy kids....5 minutes before class....
Barcelona are ready to sell big to land Manchester United wing ace Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of this season.
The Daily Star says determined not to let fierce rivals Real Madrid sign the most coveted player in world football, the Barca board are willing to offload the likes of Deco, Ronaldinho and Eidur Gudjohnsen to finance a record-breaking move.
Barca sports director Txiki Begiristain told Spanish TV programme Gol a Gol: "Cristiano Ronaldo is a player we think we can sign in the summer.
"Barcelona have never said we are not interested in him, but he is just one of many players we are looking at. We know we need to have a lot of options.
"It is logical that for the arrival of big expensive players it is necessary for some to exit. The door is open, but we will not reveal in advance any names."
Just to clarify, I do NOT read this sh*t bag paper, but it IS a quote, quite an in depth one too, which I tend to think has some truth behind it....thank f*ck his mum wants him to join Madrid eh....they aren't interested...yet anyway!
I don`t recall any mass panic when real madrid were trying to prise Ronaldo away so why should we all panic now? One rumour is much like another rumour and it doesn`t matter who the club is. And we could all look at the positive side and think how lucky utd are to have players who everybody else wants cause it only reinforces how good they are.
I have to wonder how your club might react to a ridiculous world-record bid for Ronaldo, should it arrive.
Gill has come out before and stated - quite clearly - that you are not a selling club, and no matter what the price, Ronaldo is not for sale as long as he remains happy and committed to your cause.
The fact that this quote triggered a nervous response from you might suggest that you think even Ronaldo has a price on his head that your club might be unable to refuse. Perhaps a ridiculous bid from Barca, say £30 - £40m with perhaps Ronaldinho or Eto'o tossed in as a sweetener - sure you might lose your most influential player, but Gill and Fergie might decide a bid like that could be a case of two steps backward, three steps forward?
I mean no player is bigger than the club, and as much as you might like to deny it, money talks - right???

every player has their price and i agree with abu_pres that a bid in the region of £30 - £40m will be sufficient to take ronaldo to barca, i am sure ronaldo will like to test his mettle in la liga and pitch his wits with great players like messi, ronaldinho, henry and others in barca squad. he is almost out of the door and we could see him go this summer or end of next season at the latest.
Abu,i kind of agree with you .But watching Nani last night i think United have the perfect replacement in time.Ronaldo will go sometime, and United have put his price at £75 million, which is what he's worth.I wouldn't take Ronaldinho though.
Wasnt it also these morons who said the same about David Beckham???
The Dailey Star???
Oh come on...
Dont believe the crap you read in the papers...
"Cristiano Ronaldo is a player we think we can sign in the summer."
Now thats arrogant...
Its not up to these d!ckheads who they can sign but upto United if they give permission to speak to the player...
Plus, Ronaldo has already said hes staying at United...
Newspapers come up with this kind of crap all the time...
It sells papers...
Thats themain reason why I dont buy them...

Barca talk up new transfers when things are going badly in the house.
At the moment they've got Ronaldinho, Deco and Pujol not talking to each other. Their dressing room is all over the place.
The board need to deflect the criticism. Madrid do that a lot.
Do any of us really believe that Ronaldo is going anywhere soon?
Sell him if they are offering ronaldinho + 50 milion. Don't see the problem. We could build a stronger team with that cash.
He wants to leave for Spain eventually anyway. Why not make a killing of it.
I know what i jsut said will make many folks p*ssed. However, no one is worth that much and no matter how wonderful a player he is, we should just let him go.
