Totally support your sentiments Ian along with the other like-minded posters in this thread. It is worth pausing every now and then to think of those suffering in so many parts of the world. The shocking thing about the Australian bush fires is that one day these people were, like us, going about their normal lives and the next, their lives have been irrevocably changed by an absolute horror story. To think someone may have perpetrated this deliberately is unspeakable.

It can be a ruthless country to live in as far as weather extremes are concerned. If it's not months without rain and excessive heat, it's cyclones and floods like they're enduring in north Queensland at the moment! Oh, and the occasional hailstorm with stones like tennis balls thrown in as well!

Bushfires are almost expected somewhere at this time of year, but the current ones in Victoria are the worst in recorded history, absolutely horrendous. Firefighters facing walls of flame up to 4 stories high, furnace-like conditions moving at lightning speed. I read one story of a family killed in their car when they raced to put their kids in there , then it was engulfed in a fireball before they could make their escape!

And they've nabbed a couple of arsonists as well, who face murder charges. These fools are beyond contempt.

I just wish I could ship some of this snow in Hertfordshire down there.....

Ian it is indeed very sad to hear of all the unecessary deaths in Australia and even more so now that arson is being mentioned as the possible cause of some of the fires.
