      Peter, Larry's merely being realistic for me under the circumstances, he's working with what he's got and amongst frustration. Brighton was a good point and the incentive to kick on a bit.

        A good point in the end yeah but 3 thrown away. Somebody posted an interesting statistic if true it's pretty poor,Stats: we have now conceded 100 goals in 60 games(all comps) since getting out of league one, with just 11 clean sheets, using a staggering 19 defenders we can't keep saying the same old things every week it needs sorting prompt. M.O.T
        Thing is if Larry goes who comes in and who would want to work under our owner?

      Good to have you back Andy missed your in depth erudite posts. I can see the reason why SG selected JH as captain when RN departed. I think he felt that as a Leeds lad he would be the popular choice. However I think since his appointment as captain his overall game has suffered.
      Adam Clayton would be my choice for captain as he has all the credentials but again in the present climate would we be able to hold on to him when the big clubs come sniffing at the end of the season as indubitably they will. Dilemma indeed for SG.

      Thanks, Tom - ?

      Larry made a rod for his own back when he appointed Johnny ‘Vice Captain’. No doubt, he did it with good intentions – at the time Johnny was on fire, playing free in a 4-5-1 formation, scoring; and, as you say, it was a popular choice because he is a Leeds lad. Richard Naylor was the captain and I suspect Larry thought that Johnny would progress under Nayls’ tutelage to become a future captain. When Nayls crocked, Larry had Johnny as default captain. He could not then take the armband from him without, potentially, losing a valuable player.

      If Johnny were honest with himself, he would agree that he is not the team’s natural leader, at this time. The way out of this predicament may be to bench Johnny for a couple of matches so he can see how a natural leader on the park operates. For me, this would be Kisnorbo. However, therein lays the problem: on his present form, I would not pick Paddy to play. So, if Johnny and Paddy are not in the team, who will be captain?

      ATM, my team selection would be:
      Lonergan;
      Connolly, Lees, O’Dea, Pugh;
      Clayton, Vayrynen, White;
      Keogh, Becchio, McCormack;
      Subs, Snodgrass/Forssell, Howson, Sam/Nunez, Bruce/Kisnorbo, Rachubka.

      The only player I can see the captain’s armband going to, without it affecting his ability to play, is Pugh.

      What are your thoughts?

      Good post mate, god we really do need a leader, Kisnorbo if fit and in full working order would be ideal Clayton would be next IMO, remember the old days you had Batty,Strachan,Zico,Vinny in that promotion side, maybe a fit Brown would be ideal.
