    When you get to the January transfer window you know it's time to get up from off your squeaky bum and be counted...but can we count on Mowbray?

    It's looking OK on paper: 4th, as I write, after that thrilling finale to the Luton game. But does Mowbray have what it takes? This is what worries me. Players grumbling about his half-time team talks, Quashie gone, Gera going, Kamara incompetent against Luton, Davies giving a slack vote of confidence for the boss with his 'won't sulk' promises...it's hardly inspiring, is it?!

    So now I'm wondering: is Mowbray really the man for the job? And isn't it becoming clearer and clearer that Robson was sacked way too quickly? At least he managed to keep a relegated side together. That's more than the current 'Mr Motivator' seems to be doing.

    We all know you can't send a boy to do a man's job. Is it me or is 'Melton' way out of his depth already? Bring back Robbo anyone?! Or will Mowbray make me eat my words yet? I'm hoping...

      With the "must sell to buy" policy poor old Melton should be worried about standing up. The overvalued passengers in the dressing room are now proving unattractive at the price tags around their necks or are not causing any interest at all. As was predicted it will take a good salesman to shift many of the hangers-on.
      The total of all the fees received for transfers this month wouldn't buy a decent player.
      Equally the boss has not yet cleaned out the disruptive "player power" element in the changing room, its time that he opened a bargain basement so that the has-beens on the pitch become have beens at the club.

        I backed Robson, but I wouldn't have him back now we have Mowbray. Melton has been doing well by my reckoning, good home form beats no form at all. Subs seem to be made at the right time but we do need to "rotate" some of the players out the exit door to get some who want to play and meake their names.
        Peace is saft not taking 3 mil for Ellington and 4 Mil is never going to happen. I guess he was thinking Wigan were desperate for him, with them telegraphing their interest from last year but Wigan aren't Chelsea. If he pulls it off and Wigan stump up he has balls cos I would offload Ellington ASAP. He doesn't want to play for us anyway.
        I think Earnie would be a fantastic signing and I think he would work really well with the team we now have. I don't think I would sign him though with his club history.
        Richardson would still be worth buying or maybe I am 6 months too early. I think he's a bet for summer IF we get promoted.
        We still need 1 pacy young striker keen to make his name and 2 younger players at the back to keep the older pro's up to muster.

        I guess from your comment (pbwootton) that you've slipped onto this message board from dingle land. If you read the messages (assuming you can read) you will realise that not many of us have a problem with melton. As for overachieving, all we need to do is get our away form sorted. That will start at Leeds and continue in your own back yard a week on Sunday.

      Do you seriously want Robson back? Tactically inept, lucky to stay in the premiership, got found out last season. I actually dont mind Mowbray. He does know when to make subs (did leave it abit late on Friday when Kamara should have been off 10 mins earlier), and tends to make the right one. If players dont want to play (Ellington, Gera, etc) then it doesnt matter whos in charge. As for Davis there arnt that many prem clubs beating down the door to get at him. Personnally Id have taken the 5.5 mill from spurs and bought a decent striker (dare I mention earnshaw - I personnal think hed play really well with hartson and phillips). Kamara - well it was the worst game hes had for us against Luton and I guess we're all entitled to one bad game, lets see how he plays in the next match.
      But please - no Robson!!!!
