we won the fa cup in 76 and gained promotion to the old first division. but like you say promotion is the priority. i no i wasnt to upset when we got beat by man city cos the premiership is the priority.
from a southampton fan.

  Sorry to burst your bubble, but there has only been 1 team that has ever won the FA cup and gained promotion to the first division in the same season and that was the Albion 30-31 season Beat Birmingham 2-1 in the final and were runners up to Everton in the league.
  Southampton won the cup in 75-76 season but ended up in sixth place in the league.
