Mike, But the national manager selects his squad - says who's in and who's out - can select from anyone he likes. Our manager doesn't appear to be in that enviable position.
I also think that Wendy has made some odd decisions - but, you also wouldn't agree with the team that I'd select - and I would also assume that BMJ wouldn't pick the same team as Wendy and vice versa (if that wasn't the case, each manager would be perfectly happy with the squad he inherits),
Compound Wendy's position then with some very late departures and arrivals...then throw in the fact that the difference last season between us and a much lower position was the goals we scored and you can see the man had his work cut out.
So, given he has limited control of the squad (I concede that he is probably still in control of who goes on loan, who is in the squad (ie Taraabt) and who is out) in way of new pleyes in/out, then you have to give him time to get the mix right.
Just look at the players who have gone who were first team regulars in the past 3/4 seasons.
My only concern (well one of the many concerns), is that the January window doesn't seem to be a safety net - as how do we or Wendy know (on the assumption that Wendy doesn't control buying/selling) who will be brought in to correct the issues?
I'd guess at a new 'attacking' midfielder, two new right backs and a new mascot......
(In my personal opinion I think THFC look at buying a player for wht they think he'll be worth - ie Modric at 15m looks a steal - if he performs, he could be sold on for another 5m - same for Pav - if he finds the net and bangs in 15+ goals in the league, then how much is he worth? If Bentley becomes an England regular, how much? - I think that is what controls the buying policy - not necessaitly what we need, more '..what are they worth if we polish them up a bit and make them shine...?')
