I've been reading alot of our threads and comments lately and sense that things arent going to plan for us.
Granted we have had some great memories in the last 12 months but for all our hard work it seems something out there is conspiring against us:
1) Possible move to Statford. This seems to be having a negative impact on us.
2) Lack of goals: Our strikers are way off in sort of form.
3) defense is too inconsistant. both injurys and form have prevented us from playing a stable and solid back 4 for some time.
4) depth of squad. Large as it was the quality is lacking due to lack of confidence or playing time.
I dont think we will get in the top 4, infact we will be fighting for top 6 come the end of the season. It seems we have not done enough to build on recent successes and tinkered too much with formations. I dont know any other teams in the league that dont have a stable starting 11. Too many of our players don't suit playing with each other it is crazy.
I'm in a daze at the moment about SPURS! I really dont know why I feel so negative at the mo. It wasnt long ago we were staring relegation in the face. HELP!-

Ive been a supporter since i was a boy in the eariy 1950s i stood outside edmonton town hall and watched the bus bring the double side along the high road ive been to the lane with my dad and seen all the great players from the billy nicholson side right till the present side and while i have never lost my love and passion for spurs sadly the people who have been running our club have not sharedour the supporters passion we used to be a club that attracted and bought the best players even when we were not at the top in stead of expecting to beat the top teams harry thinks we dun fantastic we got a draw and what a fantastic side we played i dont no about you but i find that attitude all wrong you never hear fergie or vinnager make those excuses they expect to win and if they dont its a failure maybe our management teem should rethink their attitude and stop settling for medioka and give us back our pride

Having only been born in the late 60's I never got the chance to see the great team that we were back then.
My 37 years as a Spurs fan has seen us put together teams that were 90% to becoming great without ever slotting those last pieces in to place. I belong to the generation of Spurs fans that is used to riding the rollercoaster of ecstasy and agony.
I'd prefer to think of our current team as 2 steps forward 1 step back rather than the other way round. It's certainly one of the Spurs teams with the most potential that I've seen in my time and recent seasons have been one of the most exciting times to be a Spurs fan. Whatever else, being a Spurs fan's never dull !!!- View Replies

Hi All and cheers for the comments. I do post occassionally but have been on the message board for a few years now. Its good to vent with fellow YIDS.
Kurt i do agree that we have been making steady progress 2 steps forward 1 back, but just of late that momentum has stalled. We do need to find that again and quick as the poor form of Liverpool and chelsea seem to be a thing of the past now.
Last night was a good 3 points depsite another poor performance so no complaints there. WHat annoys me is our use of fringe players. I get frustrated when other teams bring in young players who are given a proper chance to develop. We seem to just buy young loan out and then we never see them again.
This goes in hand with the likes of Gio and Pav. Pav needs a good run like any striker and as for Gio well who knows. It seems weird that a large majority of us see potential but Harry plays Crouch all the time.
And lastly I still think Cudincini should start some games. Gomes despite some grate saves is having a very negative effect on the back four in my opinion and needs dropping. An outfield player making the mistakes he has would have been dropped long ago.

Without wanting to sound like a gooner, to field a "settled" side this season would have been nice, but too many long-term injuries have prevented this, also short term injuries across midfield and the second string centre backs. Whilst I know many teams have had to cope with this, we certainly have had our fair share this season. I would love to settle on Gomes, Hutton, King, Dawson, BAE, Lennon, Modric, Hudd, Bale, vdV and Defoe.
Cudicini, Corluka, Krancjar, Crouch, Kaboul, Gallas, Jenas, and Pienaar as cover. Feel free to put me right on this! Who would be your ideal "settled" side, injuries notwithstanding?- View Replies

Hey HighRoad,
I would agree with your first choice 11, If our team had managed to stay fit throughout the season those 11 would be my first choice. 'IF ONLY'
I like your second 11 or back up, I know that Jenas/Corluka have their haters, but personally I don't think many EPL teams have back up players who are of similar quality. I know some other people have flogged this to death, but I would love to have seen Gio get a chance. I guess the fact he hasn't tells us something about his attitude.

Welcome to the funny farm.
Look at the positives - we're still 5th without our strikers firing and without playing to our potential. That bodes well - all we need is a turning point - and any game can give us that. Tonight could be the night.- View Replies

Yeah John - I'm with you.
Considering how crap we have been playing lately, we are still holding down 5th, and it will only take a few games to get us back in competition for 4th.
If we get through tonight with a win - with Modric missing, Bale missing, and our first choice CBs missing - it will say a lot for our squad. This is where the rubber hits the road and it will depend on everyone else steps up. I think we have the character to do it.
