    AVB has made no secret of both his desire to win the EPL and to also do well in the Europa. That's fine. But what would you class as being acceptable this year?
    Personally, I'd rather have a push for the league position than pushing to win the Europa, on the simple assumption that 4th or above will get CL (and the Europa doesn't pay that much - what £6m to win?).
    If AVB can get Europa silverware AND 4th or above then I'd be over the moon.
    I can understand AVB wanting some success in his first year to 'cement' and maybe justify his appointment, but for me, he doesn't have to do it all in the first year. I'd be quite happy to see him bed in his system, produce good football, and start moving up the league. I wonder what targets the board have set?

      I would go for trophies every time, and Im sure most clubs fans would. It is good to finish in top 4 and play CL because its glamour, but realistically only one of the top clubs are likely to win it, so we end up with nothing as fans except to say we were in it, whereas the club makes a lot of money, but not enough to compete with the Arabs, Russians. Take the Arse as an example, 15 years on the trot of CL football, but no trophy for a long time, are their fans happy? but I bet their shareholders are. Any trophy guarrantees european football, and its only the profile and money that makes the CL so glamourous, but the europa league has some great names in it, and is nearly just as difficult to win IMO.
