Disgusting disgusting behaviour, I'm amazed he stayed on the pitch until the end of the match with all that going on, kudos to the boy Rose.
In case there's any doubt over whether there were monkey chants, check out this video of the last minutes from a fan's perspective: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9ZZY9U1CdDs
It will be interesting to see how UEFA tackle this, not only does the behaviour appear more extreme than I've seen for a long long time, but a lot of people related to the game have openly said they don't believe they'll give Serbia a strong enough punishment, so how do they approach that? Fine them all?
The ref's not done himself any favours either; I don't know the exact rules re kicking a ball away, but I didn't think it mattered after the end of of the match - it's not time wasting or inciting the crowd - and given everything else that was happening on the pitch then it's incredibly unfair for that to be the only card issued. Does anyone know if it was a second yellow or straight red? I don't think it was clear, if I were the ref I'd be inclined to say straight red so it can be rescinded and this won't drag on until the summer...
Maybe I have a strange viewpoint, and (again) I'm not condoning racism, but I don't see 'insults' as being racist per se.
To me racism is where you purposely damage/disadvantage people based on race.
Being insulting is, to me, something different. People use perceived 'difference' to be insulting - glasses, hair colour, sex, sexual preference, colour, height, weight, spots - anything that is intended to wind the target up.
I agree that you could argue that the insults lead to racism and the people using the insults may indeed be racist.
I find it so odd that football is a sport where the supporters feel free to hurl whatever vile abuse they like at each other, the players and the officials - and where the players can hurl abuse at each other and the officials - and it is seen as part of the sport.
If JT had called Ferdinand an eff 'lanky' c, instead of an eff black c, no one would have batted an eyelid. If the Serbian's had called Rose a c all night would that then have been acceptable?
If people did the same at athletics meetings, or martial arts or cycling or rowing or hockey or...it would be looked on in a completely different light.
Why is football apparently exempt from simple common decency?
NBR- you nailed it with your first three words!
This sort of behaviour makes me embarrassed to be a football fan, the comments left at the bottom of this link highlight just how serious, a problem we face.
There is NO excuse, ignorance or lack of education will be used, but IMO Serbia should be banned from competing in any footballing arena for 5 years.
Well done Danny! massive respect!
FA delegates need to grow some balls and lead the England team off the pitch if ever this type of thing happens again.

I'd not looked at the comments before, I'm honestly shocked. It's one thing in a stadium, mob mentality takes over etc etc, but to have such considered abuse is really shocking. It makes me glad there are a fair few comments I can't read, I dread to think what they'd say...
