Just found this on another site and I thought I'd put it on here. Especially those who were unfortunate not to have seen him play. Bit choppy and some repeats but some idea of how balanced and controlled he was. Scored with left foot, right foot and head, brilliant player would love him in the current team!!!

He would still be of the greatest value - I was also lucky enough to see him play in the glory days. He simply scored goals - maybe he coasted through the game and then had a few moments of brilliance - but what magical moments they were!! Nothing but fond memories of Greavesy - and many more of the great Lilleywhite players from that era at the Lane.
Brown Peters Henry Blanchflower Norman Mackay Jones Greaves Smith White Dyson. I was 8 when I went to my first game and while I can't remember the detaisl of the game I will never forget the magic feel! -

I probably wouldn't like his style of play, as he wouldn't be doing 'enough' for me!
Having said that, a constant 20+ league goals per season may change my mind.
He has to be up there - if Bale is now worth £55M, Sir James has to be way above that. -
Put Jimmy in his prime out there now, how would his value sit in the modern game. £? H

My first trips to the Lane were in the late 60's (67 on) when I was still a young lad. Greaves, Jones, Gilzean... and not forgetting the legend that was to become Pat Jennings good memories eh?
The image of Greaves putting the ball in the net, with a trail of opposing players on the deck in his wake...
Jennings catching the ball one handed and bringing it down behind his back...Stepney being bamboozled by Jennings footwork (!) and Jennings scoring....
Jones flying down the wing...
Gilzean, with his flowing locks, rising majestically...
We all agree that Jennings is better than Yashin,
Greaves is better than Eusebio,
and Leeds are in for a thrashin'
...sing along.... - View More Messages
