    I've just read that Daffy (the Yahoo transfer talk bit) is out for up to a month with a pelvic injury. Not good if true - but on the bright side, they're also saying that we are back in for Damiao (how long have we been linked to him?).

      I wouldn't worry too much - AVB said after the Leeds game that he would be back for Norwich, and I've seen the following apparently said in his Holtby press conference:

      While Villas-Boas ponders throwing Holtby in at the deep end, he has shrugged off rumours suggesting Jermain Defoe requires surgery. Defoe sat out the 2-1 defeat as Tottenham tumbled out of the FA Cup at Leeds. But AVB insists the England striker will not be going under the knife.

      He added: “No, it is not true. It is extremely important that Defoe can play. We have spoken openly about this situation and we know it is a situation of risk and limit.

      But we are happy to take that risk at the moment. We are fine as we stand — it is something we are not considering."


      I'm looking forward to this deadline day even more than usual - the last few have been fairly disappointing, but I don't think Levy will be satisfied with performances this season overall and there are some clear areas where we could use reinforcement, Damiao could be the first of many juicy fables!

        AVB's comment about 'risk and limit' must have lost something in the translation - presumably it means that Daffy is carrying an injury but that it is manageable?

        Villa are looking a bit iffy after last night - and even though QPR got a draw, they will need another free falling club to come to their rescue - and Toon grabbing the points last night may have stopped their slide.

      I guess the proof of how serious the issue is will be in whether he plays tonight and if he lasts the 90 minutes. 4 games in two weeks up to the 14th Feb.
