The problem still remains, Steve, Jerome was bought as a goalscorer, after he scored 20 in a season at Cardiff. I thought we should have gone for Chopra instead at the time, but he went to Sunderland, and that was that...Jerome was SUPPOSED to score the goals, if not who was going to do that difficult task .? Ridgewell is more consistant and hes a centre back ! Phillips, Derbyshire and Martins didnt play anywhere near the same amount of games Jerome did, yet Philips was averaging a goal a game, Martins hardly played same as Derbyshire. Jerome converted 5 out of about 60 chances over the season. Andy Cole needed 5 shots per goal, but still managed to put a load away. Jerome needs 10-15 to score even one, and even then can somehow manage to put the ball over when a wide open net beckons as often proven.
Jerome was never bought to be this link man, to lay off to others, because there was no others. Only Zigic proved his worth...Phillips kept the bench warm, Derbyshire was left at home, and Martins was on a meal ticket (IMO). Jerome was bought as a striker Steve, and Cardiff should be sued under the Trades Description Act, for selling an article not fit for the purpose. !
