Arsenal Message Board
Oh really? Okay lets look at arsenal's current Roosters
Almunia Average goalkeeper that wouldn't even get into any team in the top four apart from Arsenal. And makes to many mistakes that are costly.
Flappy or Fabiański as you may know him. Well he is just Flippable.
Szczęsny Okay but inexperience remember the carling cup final.
Koscielny He has got no clues about defending very poor.
Squillaci no comments
Djourou talks too much but can't defend
Denílson a disgrace
Diaby got the Vieira look but is very poor in midfield.
Bendtner Wouldn't score a goal to save his life. He also needs to go to spec-savers maybe he will see the goal and score a few goals for us.
Arshavin looks lost but again wenger is play him out of position.
Wake up wenger spend big we need at least 4 to 5 decent experience players to have a chance of winning something.
Get a decent GK
Two or three decent CB sale Djourou,Squillaci and Koscielny and get cahill, samba and Mertesacker.
Get two decent DM or two holding midfielders and a good forward that can hit double figures then only then will we have a chance of winning something.
Happy have a wager but that we would both have to come up with a 1 through 4 ranking because otherwise you would have the better odds because you would have all combo's but mine :-)
I too think Chelsea is the dark horse. Either last years rather long slump was a warning for their fans of things to come or it was a one off. In addition they have yet another new manager. If they don't get modric their summer isn't that impressive. Yet they have the talent and depth to win the whole thing.
I am betting on a struggle for them, however I think a stuggle for them will still result in 3rd.
Well that is your opinion Mar and whose to know, it may well turn out to be spot on.
I'll readily give you a gentlemans wager that you are incorrect though.
I wouldn't call it myself. But i will say that i think Arsenal and United and City would be my favourites to win. I think Chelsea may find it hard with a new man at the helm (then again they may run away with it!).
United have the upper-hand solely because they do not suffer from the same lack of confidence that Arsenal do. Arsenals biggest weakness is in the players own minds and in the minds of their fans. Arsenal are under more pressure to win than any other side IMO.
I think most would agree with that list. What I was asking if you would actually rank them from 1 to 4 in your personal expectation.
1. Man U
2. Man City
4. Liverpool or Arsenal
This to me means we shouldn't speak about winning the PL. We will once again not be within single digits when the dust settles.
The final top four Mar. will include any of these clubs ...
Liverpool, Chelski, City, United and Arsenal. An outside chance of Spurs.
Who will end up where at the end is anyones guess.
e.g Arsenal could have won the title and United could have finished 4th last season quite easily. Same goes for Chelski and probably City (though i couldn't see City lifting it last term).
I find it sad that we always make the same mistakes, we talk about winning the PL title before the season starts and during, we talk about winning big games before they have been played and most of the time we get punched in the face.
Why expose yourself to ridicule and claim you can win the title? Why not do your talking on the pitch? We have not won the PL title for what seems like an eternity and in fact have not even been close. So why not shut up and try to deliver it instead of fading after X-mas?
RvP talking about the importance of a good start!!! Why doesn't he learn and start talking about a good finish? I wouldn't be surprised if even Liverpool out played us for most of the season. If you take their first 10 or so games away they probably did better after that period than we did.
We have no right to speak about winning any thing not even the CC. We should be silent and deliver.
Your assessment is a little harsh.
Yes I will conceed that Almunia, Squilacci, Denilson, Diaby and Bendtner are all short of what we want playing for Arsenal.
It looks as though Almunia, Bendtner and Denilson have been dangled about to see who will buy them.
Squilacci will hopefully remain a fourth choice defender and he is better than Cygan, Senderos and Sylvestre.
Djourou will come good. Yes he made a couple of mistakes last year, but he also put in loads of great performances.
It may well be down to a reliable pairing who can get a run of games as that is what we have lacked. If we can get a CB like Samba I would be happier as we have been lacking force and stature in set pieces.
Diaby will be no more than a utility player next year with any hope. Ramsay & Wilshere have quickly equipped themselves to play in central roles, so I doubt if Diaby will have a large part to play in next seasons games.
Arshavin did pick his game up last year, and started to track back and defend. For this he got plenty of cheers from the crowd and I think he recognised that. Hopefully he will take then on board for next year too.
I would be floored if we ended up signing Mertesacker or Cahill. Especially if Samba looks unlikely at this point.
Juan Mata is the guy we need to secure at this point. I would then love AW to go and buy another keeper.
