Arsenal Message Board
Everybody is going on about getting rid of players and bringing in players but what happens when clubs don't come in for your players then what happens.
We all agree that some of the squad needs to be let loose and bring in some quality, but who?
All the better players wont leave until the summer because they are playing CL football or they are tied in because they have already played CL football.
If you was to put our first team out, on paper you would only replace about three/four players.
For best part it is always our defence that lets us down because we are scoring goals, so who could Arsen bring in now! Exactly, no world class player wants to leave now so buying second rate players or someone who is out of contract is the only option....if he does that, you will all be on here slagging him off for buying dross.
Not too many on here complaining about the signings of Santos or Arteta. Hardly world class players.
Wayne Bridge could have done a job, Huntelaar could take some pressure form RvP. Neither are world class but Bridge is better than Vermaelen at LB and Huntelaar is better than Chamakh or Park.

I believe Vertonghen is a must. Not only he is good, but also very versatile. Players like him will ensure that dross like Squillaci never plays again. I think we need someone like Goetze or Ericksen for midfield creativity and a solid striker like Doumbia, Sow, Remi. And also review our medical staff and get rid of all the dross and always injured players like Gibbs and Diaby, both good but hardy contribute. This is an outlay well within our reach. If Arsenal have any ambition left for once we need to invest heavily on transfers. We will recoup some of that by getting rid of the dross.
"Wayne Bridge could have done a job" ???
You do mean the same shoddy job Bridgey did for the Hammers against us in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, don't you marintii?
And to make matters worse for Bridgey, the Arsenal side on show on that day composed of largely fringe players, yes the ones we're trying to get rid from the football club.
To say that this same Wayne Bridge you're now recommending to Arsenal was the worst player on the pitch would not be an understatement.
This proves how difficult it is to find the right player at this stage of the season.
Here's link below to jog peoples memory if they have forgotten how average Bridgey has become:
Balzaretti @ Palermo is up for sale. He's world class Full Back that Palermo have agreed to sell now. PSG may well go in for him in the summer, so why not pick up his wage bill until the summer and bolster our defence.
That's one. I'm sure that if I could be bothered I could find a few more we could get on loan until the end of the season.
I am all for us buying players, but all we really need are some short term fixes at this point. We can sort out who should be sold in the summer.

The damage was done in the summer when we were still in the CL (we won't be next season) when he let good players go and didn't replace them with the same quality.
Furthermore, there are players in our squad who just aren't good enough and we all know who they are.
Finally, for whatever reason we seem to suffer more than other clubs with injuries -- not just the quantity of injuries but most of them being long term. This has gone on now for 6 or 7 seasons, so our squad should be (and isn't) sufficiently deep to cater for this.
