It's true we need to sell players to bring players in but that applies to all clubs.
We complain that we carry to much deadwood and when we sell them or at least try to sell them on we get questioned.
Once Arsenal get rid of all those fringe players that draw big salaries then Arsen should be able to bring in some decent players and shore up the midfield and defence, despite many of you thinking this wont happen.
Whether RVP goes or stays, his outburst as well as the drubbing from Usmanov has probably shaken the board up and perhaps they will review their wage structures and also the transfer policy and financial support for Wenger.
We don't need to spend the way City or Chelsea do but we need to be able to buy better players then we have and keep the ones we have got already.
Lets face it, If Arsen paid 50 million for Torres and got the return on him Chelsea did we would be screaming at him!
So buying and spending big doesn't mean we will win anything, but having the money behind you will give you the ability to shop in the better stores.

Barca, Madrid, PSG, Citeh, Chavs- none 'have' to sell in order to buy, none of them work with the same financial restrictions on them that you and we (Spurs) do.

Those 'finge' players and please correct me if I'm mistaken Djourou, Squlaci, Park, Chamak, Bendtner, Arshavin, Denilson, these players are on relatively big money. Djourou earns in excess of £50k a week! that's mad money, why would he leave? he will never earn that money else where! so why would he or any of the other overpaid 'fringe' players want out? Remember Winston Bogarde at the Chavs? you have numerous players with seemingly similar mentalities, it appears that my beloved Spurs have similar players in Jenas, Bentley, Gomes, the only redeeming point is that none of them earn in-excess of £50k like your lot.

Sadly Raider, you do, as do we (Spurs). If we really want to compete over the course of a season, then signing the best players, who invariably cost more, is a necessity. However I hold little hope that either of our clubs will address that issue.

I hear what you say Joe, but these fringe players need to play football or dry up and waste away so taking a drop in salary maybe their only alternative.
I don't believe either clubs are far away from really challenging but you don't have a sugar daddy and our one can't even get on the board to make the difference.
You selling Modric wont help and us selling RVP Hurts the cause too! but thats football and as one door closes an other opens.
Two more big buys at Arsenal and the prospect of RVP leaving will not seem as daunting.
