In light of all that has emerged about the Hillsbrough disaster
I feel that all Football fans should boycott this worthless rag
I am disgusted that so many lies were told and more to the point if the police could organise a piss up in a pub 41 lives need not have been lost as in stead of the ambulances being held out side they could and should have been let in to start to save some lives.
God alone knows how the 96 victims families feel will they be thinking was my loved one one of the 41 that might have been saved!! how awful that will be for them.
I thinkl its time to put tribal football support to one side and as a collective of football fans make sure the sun like the NOTW goes out of production
I trust that the victims families are not now thinking that 41 of the victims might have been saved if only someone hadn't stopped ambulances arriving. That is *not* what the new report says. Far from it. Whatever newspaper you read that in, stop reading it - it's worthless.
No real self respecting person buys The STUN anyway.
All news papers have printed lies in the past. The SUN did it at the time because that's what the Police told them was the truth.
They have apologised for the mistake.
Move on with your life..

Who has apologised ? The 96 victims will find it hard to 'move on'. When true justice is done, the families of the victims, and the witnesses who were accused of urinating on, and stealing from fellow fans dead or dying on the pitch might be able to 'move on'
Clearly I don't know all the facts the this sad event, but my understanding is that there were two pivotal issues.
1. The root cause: thousands of Liverpool supporters turned up without tickets and endeavoured to force their way into the statdium.
2. The manner in which the police and stadium officials, etc, dealt with the problem.
When tragedies of this nature occur they affect the hearts of every genuine football fan, as well as those not associated with the game.
This particular tragedy was the catalyst that brought about the advent of all seater stadia in the UK; a move that, no doubt different people have different opinions about. I for one feel that some of the true spirit of being a football fan dies when the (standing) terraces disappeared.
I for one

People should read the Taylor Interim report on the Hillsborough disaster before pontificating on causes. Google it. The root cause of the disaster was not thousands of ticketless fans but the design of the Leppings Lane end making it a disaster waiting to happen, which then happened. It almost happened in 1981, 1987 and 1988 - the three previous times semi-finals were held there.
