  • F1 vs NASCAR?

There needs to be a "Real Race" with the Best of the Best. I periodally follow F-1 but I got to think that the NASCAR got it over F-1. I mean look at the Car themselves. 192 mph in a car that handles like a brick has got to be harder. The Best driver in the world today Drives NASCAR...Tony Stewart. He has said he would take a F1 ride (when they were here in the States) and give the field a run for their money. Also I've never seen Micheal S. win a IROC race here?
Thoughts? I always wondered what F1 fans thought.

    Just another Yank causing Trobule.

Hahaha! Come on. I am a Yank who watches both (F1 on Speed Channel). There is no comparison. The F1 cars are light years ahead of Nascar cars in both aerodynamics and motor sohpistication. Also, the driving of an F1 course is many times more difficult that the oval track. Any Nascar driver would even admit to that. Nascar is fun to watch sure, but please don't try to say that its better. That is ridiculous.

to me nascar is better, because they are some much more fun to watch and the drivers and not a bunch of snobs. don't get me wrong i watch F1 to but i like nascar better. i know who is going to win an F1 race just by look at where they start, that makes a really boring race. and for nascars not having all the tech the F1 does they have a lot of hp (850) and that having all old school tech. none of the computerize stuff. but i will say that F1 carts are bad a**

Yeah, he'll beat Schumi in a race that just goes in circles, no uphills and downhills and a car that hardly changes gears and has no reliability issues. Be real man.

Watch some more F1 races. No comparison to NASCAR. The cars are so much more advanced. I think you would actually like it more. Too bad more Yanks aren't into it. We finally have an American driver this year, the first since 1993.

The problem with F1 IS the advanced cars. F1 is about who fields the best technology. NASCAR is about who fields the best racing team (driver, crew chief and pit crew). I can tell you who will win an F1 race by looking at who is sitting on the pole position. Small twisty road courses that leave no room for passing make for boring racing. Not to mention that the cars are so fragile, the slightest touch with another car, wall or barrier takes you completely out of contention. I'll take closed cockpit paint-trading any day.

The team parity kills F1... To prove this, lets put Zsolt Baumgartner into a Renault, and I bet you lousy Brits that he takes a podium.

The problem with NASCAR is that the race just goes in circles. No hard braking or deceleration on curves. No gradients and hairpins involved. In NASCAR, they steer only in one direction only clockwise or counter clockwise. Another is, they only race within the US of A. F1 incorporates all driving skills and situations necessary to really drive a car.
