Liverpool Message Board
when the dust has settled, to me its clear...
...it sends a clear message that if results are'nt acceptable, you go...
...it sends a clear message to the new incoming manager, what the expectation levels are...
...everyone knows they mean business.
It says the league is more important than cups. Cups bring players medals. Top 4 brings in millions and all that goes with it. It says spend silly money on players who don't produce all season and you're in trouble. It says have poor PR skills and you're in trouble. But get top 4 and all will be forgiven for longer than 18 months.

yes it certainly proves they mean business. Part of me wonders how much the Suarez thingy had to do with it, but they could have acted at the time if they wanted.
i also hope it doesn't send the message out that they will not give time to a manager. Which is what someone now needs. The whole club needs rebuilding and remodelling and that will take time.
It's actually a good point.
Personally I think this decision is 6 months to soon as I think waiting till Xmas to see if the issue of consistency was down to the manager not getting the best from the playes, or was just bedding in problem which would have been solved by time.
But as you say, just like breaking the record to bring Carroll in, this does send a clear message. Kenny may have been an icon, a living legend, but the club is about results and we'll spend and do what we have to in order to improve those results.
Just hope they bring in the right man. For me, Lawrenson summed it up well. "Major surgery wasn't required" Maybe there is some need for change, but I really think we're not far from a side on the up.
