We must try and understand him, when someone is so obviously unhappy it's because something awful happened to them. It isn't his fault that he is full of hate and anger, it can't be easy for him, in fact he probably hates himself, I am sure it makes it impossible for him to form healthy relationships with anyone. He needs or sympathy and not our loathing.
