How do we say his name for God sake. I've tried every combination, and listened to several attempts at it, and all different? Why cant footballers like actors, or singers, give themselves a stage name that's easy to remember, like eg. Cumberbatch?? ! or 'The Rocket'.
Well, I'm a bit lost. We have less than 2 people per position in defence - and unless Vertigo plays left back, we're a bit exposed there (given BAE on loan) - BUT we have what, about 11 midfielders for 4/5 positions?:
Paul the Alienho
Then only 3 up front - one of which AVB doesn't appear to rate at all (Ade), and the other that he seems to have the same faith in as the other managers we've had recently (Daffy).
So, instead of 'targetting' specific areas, it just seemed to me that AVB blanket reinforced the midfield in general. I'm not saying that the purchases aren't good (only time will tell - but I like the way Capoue has played) - I just wonder how many of the purchases then from only a season ago will be still here by the start of next season (I would hazard a guess that Glyfi and Holtby will go - and Dembele may) - and if that is the case I'm just not sure the temporary stop gap approach is a route that I like.
Having said that, we'll probably end up getting 3rd or above this season!
Can't see any reason why Fellaini he wouldn't start. There is some talk that Rooney could possibly play with a bandage to protect the cut on head ... but that shouldn't effect Fellaini.
If you want to win, I think RvP is a logical pick as captain this week... It was highly unlikely that he wouldn't score today. It's only a game, yes, but what's the point of playing if you're not going for the win?
Still, I try to pick some less likely players too to make the difference, for example Ward-Prowse and Robbie Brady this week. We'll see :-)
Its happened again - the team i created for week 4 on Saturday 14th Sept before 19,00 SGT are now shown for week 5 at 20.00 SGT 14th Sept. Currently my week 4 players are shown same as my old players as week 3 . THIS IS A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. DO NOT INTEND BOTHERING WITH IT ANYMORE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 4 YEARS. THANKS FOR A WASTED SEASON YAHOO, YOU REALLY ARE A BACKWARD PILE OF TIHS. Less
I'm not impatient - as I'm happy to give AVB til the end of this season to judge him and the new boys at least a couple of seasons to see how they fit.
But football today is about results rather than performances, and although I'm happy to wait and see, I doubt that Mr Levy will be happy with spending £100M if we don't improve. And improve in that context isn't just playing prettier/better football. So that would imply to me that CL is a minimum - and that requires goals being scored.
My concern is that time is a luxury - Wenger basically said the same - that changing squads wholesale can be a dodgy thing. And I know you don't think that buying a new midfield and forward line is a scattergun approach, but it's hardly a '...we have an issue there...let's fix that...' type approach. And now to find what 'blends' and works may take time as there are a fair few combinations.
Hopefully, AVB will find the blend in the next few games - and the goals will come from across the team.

Good post Stu! I was beginning to think I was the only one actually enjoying the game! lol ... Yeah there's a few glitches, a few things not quite sorted yet, but it's still fun and getting better.
I like the sub's bench, adds a rather interesting aspect to the game that should become (more & more) evident over the coming months.
I also like the slight change in scoring, especially for tackles & intercepts, the value of players who can do these well has not been fully appreciated, yet.
i had welbeck in as a captain, didnt manage to remove him before the window closed because yahoo suucks. anyways, who gets the armband in that case? the player that was brought in as automatic substitute or the highest ranked player as per yahoo scoring system, or nobody?
none of my players had their points doubled for week four so i am wondering.

Bad luck mark, sadly once you select a captain, he remains captain until you change captaincy. The highest value player only gets captaincy if you don't select a captain. For a laugh I have just changed captain from RVP to Rob Elliot, and "sold" Rob Elliot to see what happens to the armband ... it immediately switched to RVP.
Yes. Yahoo FF is a complete joke this year. Last straw this year was when I changed formation to 343 and it gave me 342. Can't be bothered nymore. Goodbye Yahoo.
Well, Lescott has to be a risk with Kompany back, okay it could be Nasty that makes way, but you need nerves of steel lol ... Gerrard decent captain? Of course, he gets good pts even if he doesn't score, and he's always a goal threat when he moves forward to have a crack. The danger of having a striker as cap is that they don't score, no shots and get booked! lol ... minus 6!!! Steve has got 9 & 17 in his 2 home games, so even at the low end it's 18 as cap, well worth the risk imo.
I think there maybe a little of an over reaction, although maybe understandable as our great start really got expectation up. However I think we need to think this one through a bit.
First off if we're to take BR as this word, Enrique was carrying an injury which made him a risk to start. Yes I understand if a player is good enough to be on the bench he should be good enough to start, but for me even when he came on he really did not show he would have done any better if he'd been on from the start. He gave away plenty of passes (just like the rest of the side) and just seemed a little off to me.
For me it really did come down, not to a lack of full backs, but a lack of link up from the back to the front. Credit to Southampton who pressed high up and limited the ability to play out of the back, but it was a pass to a creative midfielder to start the attack that was missing, not an outlet pass to a full back. So for me missing PC was a very big deal, but we still should have done better.
For me Gerrard needs to own up he had a poor day, as there should be no reason why he cannot play that creative role. Maybe he's not got the legs of his youth, but he's still got more technical ability than anyone else on the pitch. I do however agree Aspas was a passenger. Impressed early doors, but the last two matches have been aweful and he needs a spell in the reserves to buck his ideas up. He's a good player, was a hero at his club in Spain, but needs to get things together, otherwise step aside for someone else. I expect Suarez to play in the hole on Wednesday, but I'd also think about Allen as an option if Aspas does not buck up.
I think losing the CW this season was a mistake. However, I like the whole point for tackles & intercepts, so on balance a slightly better system I suppose. FW & FC at a point is also quite good, I do hope they sort the aggregate points breakdown properly though, so we can see who's doing what easily.
Yupp the 'White Pele' returns to spearhead the Arsenal attack tonight (or so it seems at 17:12 today) and though Nicklas is much derided by all and sundry I will go on record to say that I believe he could well turn a corner and realise his potential. IMO the Danish one with the self opinion rated at 12/10 has all the attributes to actually achieve the high standards he has already achieved, in his mind, in the future.
Only time will tell if the lad will ever come good however. Stranger things have happened after all.
That said, I've just seen a picture of Nicklas sporting a beard and a Robbie Savage style hair do.
What a complete #$%$ he looks.
