Aston Villa Message Board
Ozil isnt good hes brilliant, but that was showed at Madrid. This is the premiership and you must work hard to be a success here, and he is too much of lazy bones to be regarded as such Im afraid to say (think Berbatov or arshavin).
To say we have overachieved is an understatement liking to saying Henry was a decent finisher or wenger is a tightfisted. The table now does not reflect the true order of things. Man City will be top once they correct their way form (see bayern result for whats to come). Man united are still finding their form and will be strong once moyes makes it his team (see everton past 10 years for proof). Chelsea need major changes but with their investment in quality young players its hard to see past them for the next 10 years under mourinho, and spurs are one quality manager and striker signing away from being title challengers. Liverpool are the same.
We can kid ourselves saying we are top but truth is one punch to the ribs and we will be doing the bambi dance. its possible that we have already been hurt by recent results, and we are a couple of injuries away from a major slip up. WATCH THIS SPACE
It will be an entertaining title race. All preseason contenders have shown their flaws and as you say a few of the small teams have shown big skills. For the moment and in absence of major January spending I would say the top 4 teams are till more or less equal favorites IMO but if I had to put a prediction down at this point it would be:
1. City - on account of current from and depth of squad
2. Chelsea - on account of depth of squad but they still don't seem to have hit their stride
3. Arsenal - on account of lacking depth most glaringly at striker but now also at CB
4. Liverpool - Suarez culd push them higher up the table than 4th but ....
Man U - could fight for 4th if they bring in some real quality players in January but you have to wonder which quality player would want to come and play for them at this point?
Spurs - Could come back into the top 4 depending on their new manager, they have a capable squad.
Everton - could surprise further by sustaining their current pace but a thin squad makes that difficult.
It matters not who said it, resorting to 'ad hominem' attacks is usually what is done by people who know they have lost the argument or are just plain thick! I will let the others decide which category you are in.
Paul Merson seems to be another giving ian wright a run for his money as 'who is the thickest ex arsenal player'. Needles to say it is not for speaking why we support them but for their ability on the pitch. the truth of the matter is owen has made an astute analysis of our current state of affairs, and wenger would be wise to take heed of his advise methinks.
If he was half as good as Walcott today, we'd have beaten City away... his poor finishing in the final third cost us the game coupled with uncharacteristic poor play by some of us players, Wlshere anyone? Sagna can be forgiven for being ring rusty, but what's the excuse for others.... Disappointed that we made City looked deadly...they ain't.
"entitlement does not equate to validity"
To paraphrase your grammatical nonsense, entitlement does, in itself, validate my opinions.
Just because you don't like anyone to have an opinion that differs from yours, does no make said opinions invalid, whether you like it or not.
...and I'll ask you again...
...who's wife are you recommending I call...yours...or Roy's...?
...you answer first...why don't you...
...or have you started packing for your hols...:)
No ...he's not gone up in a huff....
....Kipper is ignoring the truth....
...and cuddling up to a troll to make the point...:D
...you're a looser Roy...
I used to watch some of the soaps...but they just went round in circles...history repeating itself...a bit like Kipper Roy and Knitted Lenny...aka Knitted Eddy and Knitted Jack...
..but "Kevin Webster is a character on "Corrie"...he's played by a guy called Michael Le Vell...who's been in it for a long time....Le Vell was accused of sexually molesting a young girl who was a previous acquaintance of his family...his real family that is...it was plastered all over the UK media for quite a while...
...he was laid off from the show and he and his family went through the trauma of "trial by media" for a long time...It turned out that it was all fabricated by the girl's Mother...who was most probably looking for some dosh in the wake of the Saville scandal...she had "primed" her daughter to lie about it...what kind of a parent uses their daughter that way...disgusting...
...anyway...Le Vell was cleared of all charges a few months ago and will be returning to "Corrie"....I guess Kipper was on holiday that week and didn't read the Daily Mail...
...I get the "kiddy fiddling paedo" bit he posted...even if he was wrong...but not sure what he meant by "wife beaters"...except that it seems to be one of Kipper's favourite theme's....
At times, is nothing short of woeful, particularly on set pieces, shown time after time, match after match. Our Spuds demolition could have easily been something different at 1-1 had Chadli been a better header of the ball, and today's NON marking of Mutch, was the stuff relegation dreams are made of. City, will play for free kicks through Silva/Nasri/Navas, even if they get iffy, and they'll slaughter us..
I watched the replay over and over, and I can't even see anyone in the picture trailing him for the header, and it looked like a training ground exercise, or something you'd see in an NBA game, for those who may watch basketball and see pick plays.. He just ran around the mess free, and bang.
Aside from Skrtel, who wasn't his most eloquent today, actually a little over aggressive, but always reliable and last man standing, now Sakho, and Jordan, I never see our players laying out full stop to put in a deflection or block, whereas, we regularly take 30+ shots a game, and no matter who we play, they deflect/block maybe half of them. The individuals I would single out, and getting most annoyed with are Glenda, who is just miserable as a defender right now, and Lucas, who's too slow and doesn't have good positional sense. No matter what the debate is on Gerrard, he's always back in the mess, heading or clearing balls away, and with Allen a regular, Sterling/Coutinho the choices, we're a bit shorter.
Going to City, and I'm hoping this was BR's train of thought when removing Flanny, who was superb again, we'll see Kelly at RB, and Glenda shifted to left for that one. We lose nothing down the left, actually gain more, and Kelly offers height, physicality and good positional sense. If he's fit, that's our one change IMO, unless BR does some 3 CB nonsense, or something really out there like Agger in at CDM.
We have to stop conceding these fouls, and avoid them, and when we do, we have to FOCUS. It's purely mental. If we mark, Migs will produce in the sticks!
Comfortable win by Man U, although the usual Ref on their side and some diving that goes unpunished of course. Only difference is it wasn't A Young this time.
When it comes to divers, Man U do have some serious strength in depth in the squad!

No news on Danny yet.
"I’ve not actually had a chance to ask him yet," Moyes said, "He has come off with a sore knee so I’ll need to check it to find out exactly what it was."

I have no idea who to partner up front. Suarez and Giroud okay, but who as the third? Thinking Remy now...
