    STOKE --------41 POINTS
    BLACKBURN--------40 POINTS
    NEWCASTLE--------40 POINTS
    M`BORO --------36 POINTS
    W.BROM -------- GONE

I reckon it will come down to goal difference between the toon and Blackburn with us just edging it.Our 40 points includes 1 at Stoke,if that doesn`t happen I believe we will play you twice next season..............But hang on a minute what about the Mackems....They`re only ganna get another 7 points at best, that`s them doon and us saved............YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES !

McClaren had never managed a club before yet he came highly recommended by Sir Alex Ferguson, and thats good enough for me. Hey and guess what, Boro won their first trophy ever and made it to a European Final under his stewardship.

Its ironic that at a club wher you have an owner who put up the money, supports the manager though thick and thin and then the club slides down the to premiership. At NUFC the owner is not a man of scruples, has obviously been involved in activities behind the manager's (KK) back and runs for cover when it comes to standing up and defending people.

2 opposite ends of the scale at MB and NU with ultimately the same result (relegation)

I heard that Gibo did not like McLaren and also that club captain Southgate wasn't one of his greatest allies - so perhaps it was 2 people (Gibo & Gareth)who disliked someone getting to work together.

My view is that Southgate is like John Gregorys, Phil Browns, Sam Allardyces == Always posing for the cameras, jumping up and down on the sidelines and spouting off about technical things but when it comes to the nuts and bolts they don't really have a clue.

At Newcastle the only good that will come of it will that they will have fat Ashleys head on a platter when things are confirmed and that the club has to be built up from scratch. In the Championship they'll still get 40,000(I'm certain Shearer will stay)

Whatever the judgement about chairmen/owners - the NE clubs don't seem to get it right

I think Southgate will be here next season. I honestly think there's something going on behind the scenes that will keep him here. Something tells me that he didn't sign Alves. Plus, Keith Lamb is still there, more than 10 years after he got us relegated in the first place.

what is the point of the smoggies anyway, crap team worse supporters,no passion, perennial losers, mickey mouse stadium built on waste land and absolutely no chance of ever improving, steve gibson must surely wish he,d been born to be a red and he could have seen all the money he,s wasted put to good use with a fantastic return, 18 cup finals now you know!then it will be off to sunny Athens a spot of sight seeing then off to pick up the champions league trophy, can it get any better for us lucky people.nearly forgot to mention the premiership title, theres been so many we forget sometimes

The question is who could we replace them with now?
Downing has had his critics, myself included, but there were times when him & Tuncay were our best players last season, at least they tried and kept running to the end.
Tuncay will do well with better service and a creative midfield to back him, I can see him step straight into a top table team no bother.
If we can keep hold of Adam Johnson we at least have a replacement for Downing, arguably better.

No splinters from sitting on the fence where you`re concerned then H. Like you say nice bloke but never a manager. He never seemed to have any fire in him in my opinion.I read in the press on Sunday that M`boro are £85 million in debt and that Gibson was aware that those debts would be sure to grow on gates of less than 20,000. It looks like the fans have voted with their feet and got what they wanted.Could this be the way forward for our lot ? Having said that we`ve lost a similar number ( 8,000 ) of paying customers without persuading that nice Mr Ashley to clock out.Cheers H. Good luck with your feisty Scottish dwarf.

So Steve Gibson finally pulled the plug, ironically just after a 2-0 win which stopped a run of three home defeats which took Boro to within 1 point of the top. But only 4 points separate the top ten clubs and it is going to be a tough fight to get promotion and Gibson probably has decided Southgate wasn't up to it.
My guess is he and Lamb didn't like the lack of support with the attendance dropping just 18,000.
So who is going to take over? My choice would be Gordon Stachan, possibly Nigel Pearson (compensation involved) but lets not go down the bring back Mowbray line again pleeease!! I'd tather have MacClaren back. Whatever lets hope Boro turn this into a positive with a dynamic, motivating manager at the helm.

He said in the Sun papers he's in the right place and he know's that the Boro will give him time. Hit the nail on the head he did---he know's he'll be there for at least 3 years of mediocrity or not. Good safe contract---he wouldn't have been my choice.

I hope the rumours have substance CJ, Boro supporters owe an immense debt to Steve Gibson and one which could never be repaid, however it is clear he has not the edge he once had because perhaps of the effect of the economic downturn on his finances or his recent personal domestic issues. May be it is time for some new blood to come into the 'boardroom' and it would be tremendous if it was locally based. I had mused that new investment may come from Indian sources (owners of Corus), but after their decisions concerning the steelworks I'm not sure that would be a good idea from a stability point of view.
It is clear something is needed in the form of funds and new enthusiam to excite the fans. We all had plenty of laughs at the expense of the Newcastle supporters in recent months, however they are in a a great position now despite a very dodgy owner and a rookie manager. Boro should be in a top league position challenging for automatic promotion, at the current rate they will have difficulty in making the playoffs

Nigel Mansell is right F1 is all down hill, the sport is now just a wheeel change and pitstop competition, what happened to dicing and overtaking. Its just too frustrating to watch anymore, and why do they still get the big sponsership, does anybody care anymore what they do on track, I and loads of others have moved on to MotoGP which has just too much excitement. Valention Rossie rules Button it.

you are right , f1 became completely dated , boring – I tend to ignore it completely and I am a massive fan , motorcycle racing is much better but even tractor racing seems more exciting today , comparing to f1 , just bunch of sony playstation kids driving cars , so cool!!! , wow…. Yeah mate , I srive to the days of moss, fangio, senna , whatever … I am not an old 70 year old fart , and I am not into all this bullshit nostalgia but something is so wrong here , I can’t even watch a race completely !, and that comes from someone who used to record every season into vhs tapes . I think the major problem of the sport start with the people at the top , the organizers , the big bosses who made it a complete set of already made game , with all these plastic politics and huge money – look at the grid today , full of losers – nico rosberg , mark webber ,fisicella , my god ! horrible , I don’t even know the names of the other faceless drivers , if it was not for kimi or Hamilton I would not even bother to open the television .
    lets start a new federation!

Although a 'best of the best' race would be good there are problems:

    1. When you consider when to have this race you would need to find a slot where there's no F1, NASCAR, IRL, Champcar or DTM (or, dare I say, A1) races are on.

    2. You'd need a suitable location for the race. Somewhere in Europe or the USA?

    3. For the event itself you'd need two races - one in single seater and another in a stockcar so you can get an overall result. You'd need a company to make everything without it being bias towards certain drivers.

    4. You'd neeed drivers to compete which might be harder as most (that would be suitable for the race) are under strict contracts that can possibly dictate what types of motorsport they take part in.

All I can say that it could be to much hassle...

I really hate to see Suzuka removed from the calendar in favor of Fuji. Not to say that Fuji won't be a great venue, but I believe there are enough F1 fans in Japan to merit two GPs. They had a Pacific GP at Aida in the mid 90's, maybe Bernie could consider doing something similar where both Suzuka and Fuji could get a race? I live in the US, so personally it doesn't make much difference where it is, but I think most of the drivers counted Suzuka as one of their favorites and it was always an entertaining race and had (has) a lot of history. With the emergence of Toyota and Honda as of late, I would think you could sell out as many races in Japan as you wanted...

I tend to agree entirely with you there. He has always been on the limit and has more than once took an alternative racing line. I remember when he was with Benetton and ran across a gravel trap to come off the other side and still win. He was so far in the lead that he still won. Nobody called him a cheat then for having an incident. Going back to when he hit Hill in Adelaide even though he was in front of him, I have argued many a time that if someone can hit a wall like he did and at such a speed, then think to himself "I must take Hill out with me", then deliberately hit him, then Schumi must be from another planet. I know when I had an accident in a normal lower speed road car, the last thing I was thinking on impact was if anything else was around me. The critics (including ITV commentators), are always quick to shoot the guy down, but if it was a driver like Hill, Mansell, DC or Button etc, it would be a case of a racing accident.
