It is fair to jettison Nani and Anderson for the simple reason that they have had the most time to prove their worth - they both joined utd in 2007 so they had 6 years to make the necessary progress. Young has only been at the club 2 years so I think he deserves one more season to prove that he's a utd player. As for Valencia, who joined in 2009, outside of the season he missed through injury this has been his worse at utd. Last time around (2011-2012) his contribution was excellent, in fact he was so good that he was voted utd's player of the year both by his teammates and the utd fans - he also won the vote for utd's goal of the season. So he has shown in the past that he can deliver consistently and on that basis deserves a chance to try and get back to the form he showed in 2011-2012.

certain AVFC FANS are not my concern my little scooby snack. i personally know 35 year season ticket holders at st'an' who have given up and do not go any more, we all have our tolerance levels. me im a football fan who will be buried in claret and blue. back in the day if we could not get to the villa away game we went to stans, i know (knew) plenty of noses who made the reverse trip. trouble has always been that you would rather beat us and get relegated than be a success where as you never mattered that much to us. funny thging is that when you won the johnsons paint trophy, i was at wembley. when you beat west ham at st'an's, (semi final) i was on the tilton end. a few days later i was on the tilton when you held us to a 1 - 1 draw. pity i could not make this seasons game, oh sorry there wasn't one, wonder why ?. as i said you worry to much about the team next door. don't worry, be happy.

"MAGNIFICENT!!!!" watching Rikki squirm like a worm......(Ooopps! I forgot, what time is it in The Colonies) Middle of the night?. Should be safely collapsed on that piss stained mattress of his, with the heart starter(Flagon of rough red) under the bed ready for the morning, after a night of mixing with the in crowd, down at Black Archies Billabong Pub. When you surface tomorrow, give us a tune on your Diggery Doo Rikki. I've heard you can blow a mean tune out of one of them......Oh dear. PMSL!!!!

Ince was a youth player, so unfortunately this really disgusts me. He was never going to go up from 35M considering everyone knew we overpaid.. Credit to Newcastle, and perhaps we'll find out we were smart enough to have done something similar with Torres, though I can't see anyone paying much more than 15-20 for him now, if that..
Hopefully something like this puts into context just what a monumental task the current regime of people in place really has to deal with.. I can't really think of any manager of a top club in the world, who has to deal with reducing a wage bill, selling on players, creating his own system with new players and on a smaller budget vs the rest, with new owners.. Perhaps food for thought as to why Pep Guardiola, Joselina, Hiddink, Klopp etc., weren't knocking each other over to get in line for the undertaking.. God knows what else Rodgers has seen/heard in his office, that probably would have made me vomit or make all my hair fall out..
Roll on 2013/14!! More Coutinhos please!!! -

Agreed, and I'd go as far to say it's a non conversation really. If we were going to sign him, the time would have been 2 summers ago when he was a 16 y/o touted as the "next Drogba". Lofty praise albeit, but I don't recall him cost all that much, and at age 18 now, and only 2 years (not as many matches) he's looking phenomenal, especially considering his size. He's made tenured CBs fall over and look silly, and has blistering pace for a lad that size..
I think with a few buys, Chelsea could even be considered Title favorites next year so we probably won't be directly competing with them, though they could struggle to adjust with the not so special one coming back, and maybe be in the 3rd/4th area too, so I doubt they'd sell him to us anyways.
Personally I think they should keep him because he certainly outperformed Torres and Ba in the league, who combined for 10 goals to his 17! But if they're going to buy a Falcao, Schurrle & Yilmaz, then I can see him going on loan again, but not to us, unless Jose is in a giving mood with his old pal Brendan.. -

Oh! he'll be cementing his place alright, sitting on the bench when Moyes gets through with applying his kind of football at The 'Old' Trafford.. Can't wait to see the chump FU. Always my nightly prayer, along with hoping a bucket of diarrhoea falls on you of course.......Sorry, and John The Bald......:)

If I don't know who you are, I'd have accused you of being a glory-hunting supporter Ian.
Trophy isn't everything, Ian.. Just an example, Adam Johnson won a premier league title last season with City and asked to leave the club immediately after the season ended because he was unhappy despite winning an historic title with City. I'm pretty certain that players like Cazorla who played majority of Arsenal's games has more job satisfaction and fulfillment than a benchwarming title winner like Anders Lindergaard who barely featured for his team.
Just goes to show............ -

pity certain fans of A.V.F.C. HAVE DESERTED YOU, I KNOW 1 THAT GOES Back and forth between w.b.a. and villa when either team goes down. plus the armchair fans around my round who brag about villa beating blues but never go down a match.i went down every game blues played last season and every europa game.
so suck it muppet -

Do I sense double standard being applied here or am I missing something, Devon?
I'm sure the same argument you used to justify retaining the services of both Valencia and Young could be used for Nani and Anderson too, All the 4 players (Young, Valencia, Nani and Anderson) blew hot and cold more times than Fergie's hairdryer in the season just concluded and none of the 4 players has made the necessary progress to be perfectly honest.
It's a bit unfair to jettison Nani and Anderson unless the decision to keep Young and Valencia is based purely on coin toss between the lot.. -

who forgets fool, i had a season ticket. and since winning the 3rd division in 1972, we have been promoted twice from the second division, you know the one, your in it. also we have won the 1st division, the european cup, the european super cup, (barcelona, who were you), the intertoto cup, lost an fa cup final, won 4 league cups and shared the charity shield. we have almost gone bankrupt (thank dougie) and been ever present in the premiership. oh and that bottom half next season will still be the premiership. it dont matter how you look at it, you will never be AVFC. be proud of your team, as i was of mine in the aforementioned 3rd division, stop worrying about your nieghbours, we are doing ok thanks............

I hope there's nothing in it too, I don't like to see it anywhere but much less associated to our club. -

It's long been a problem---and trying to contact Yahoo is a waste of time. Winning the Lottery a whole sight easier. They also class the old First Div as being the Prem. They don't even read the feedback--so what's the point--they just keep on doing what THEY want! The match commentaries are rubbish--never up with the game--the comments boards keep disappearing--the site is so slow to load and links even slower...A total waste of everyones time.

Ah, so once again you've got nothing, and you're just beating your chest (or something) impotently.

I agree with those, and it's nice to see someone else who isn't desperate to shout that Cleverley isn't good enough.
Also, I think Fabio, having had a decent season of first-team premiership action at left back should be the one we look at first as Evra's potential successor. -

Kagawa - goes without saying really
Cleverley - needs to be given the opportunity to prove whether or not he's good enough
Fabio & Buttner - the left back spot should be up for grabs soon and one of these two needs to prove that they should be the one to replace Evra
Jones & Smalling- would probably have been given more games if they hadn't had injury problems, and just as Fabio and Buttner need to show they are good enough to replace Evra so these two need to show that they should be the partnership to replace Vidic & Ferdinand
Powell - like Jones and Smalling his season was disrupted by injury. My only question is whether the game time should come at utd or whether he would benefit from a loan spell even if its just for the first half of the season.
Amos - I think he should be utd's keeper for cup games. I think he's a better long term bet as competition for de Gea than Lindegaard. -

There have been posts about who utd should bring in so I thought I would start one about who utd should sell. So here's my list:
Rooney - has asked to leave and should be allowed to leave. He's the new Nani - capable one week of that bit of magic that turns a game and then next week all over the place with missed placed passes and wild shots on goal.
Nani - for the reasons stated above. He's had ample opportunities to progress and add consistency to his game but the only thing that has been consistent has been his inconsistency.
Anderson - another one who has failed to make the necessary progress. Also there are big questions over his fitness and injury record. He not only seldom plays but seldom manages to play the whole game when he does.
Lindegaard - looked more than a decent number 2 keeper when he arrived but his recent performances have't been that good. Another one who is suppose to have indicated in the past that he would leave if he didn't become the number 1 keeper, although he does seem to have backtracked on this since utd won the title.
I don't think I would sell anyone else. Neither Young or Valencia have had distinguished campaigns but both have had their injury problems, plus Valencia's performances did improve towards the end of the season. -

There are strong rumours in the press that both coaches have been sacked by utd. If true I'm not too disappointed about Phelan but gutted for Steele - he more than anyone helped turn de Gea's utd career around. Apparently Phelan did consider a few years ago going in to management so I wouldn't be too surprised to see him turn up somewhere in charge of a club and I don't think Steele will be too short of offers.
