    basle predictions.

    by A Yahoo! User Apr 11, 2013 11:06

    SB,
You said '....john,i just think its highly unlikely we will get 4th. we arent in good form. chelsea are a lot better but hugely under performed again. arsenal are a bit better but even when they play bad, they usually get help from the officials to bail them out. just like today. we are basically 2pts behind arsenal with a much harder run in. they are in much better form & have the mental edge over us as always. anyway, all u positive people would have settled for 7th so u will all be over the moon when we edge out everton for 5th. liverpool had to win today but drew. so lowest we can finish is 6th. anyway il leave u to say reach for the stars & then the next min say happy with 7th....'

That's not quite true is it? At the start of the season, I would have been happy with a lower finish - as a change of manager, coaching staff and squad is never easy. I don't think I said I wanted AVB and the team to TRY for any less though did I?
NOW, I want whatever we can still achieve - so yes keep aiming high - it looks like second is all but impossible - but third isn't. So, IF I were AVB, that is what I'd be telling the team. The Woolwich bunch are only in the slot temporarily, because they have the 'belief' that they're destined for CL at least. That is the belief that we need to get into the squad. SOMEBODY will finish in the top 3, why not us? If we don't in the end, we don't. BUT we should be trying to.

So that has, and is always my point of view SB. Same as at the beginning of the season, I may not have thought we'd necessarily get top 4 this season, but I'd still want AVB and the team to attempt to achieve the highest finish they can - and that is what they appear to have done ,and at this point, it is still 3rd.

Football is strange end even though Woolwich may have had an easier run in, they could have dropped points. Two or three decisions went against Norwich yesterday that materially affected the game. OK, that's football - but it also shows that what appear to be easy games sometimes come down to a bit of luck. So why shouldn't we get a run and Woolwich dip? So while there is still a chance, we should always be aiming as high as possible IMHO.

I went to the city versus Newcastle game the other week and Newcastle were absolutely awful - they were clueless and wasting time from the first minute

DODGE- The BAPTIST- BUTCH & Lucky Old Me.

    by The Londoners Feb 21, 2012 15:47

Glad you did your homework Butch. Most of what you say is correct, accept we were not carrying 'lube oil' as you state, but Empty, New, 44 gallon drums from Van Leer Singapore, for the US military. I also notice that you didn't include the facts of the sinking. Tut tut! The cargo shifted during bad weather(usually the drums are carried above the holds on the fore deck), and they weren't secured well enough. The Captain was a Scotsman, Jack Stott, who worked for British Asian Shipping, as I did at that time, in Singapore. The drums were landed at Saigon, Quinhon, Cam Ranh Bay, and Danang, along the S. Vietnam coast. Our backload was war scrape, gun barrels, etc. I cannot say who picked us up, but it wasn't an American ship, and I did not go to Australia then, but a year later. I have the stamps on my old Passport proving all of this, both from the Joy Taylor, and her sister ship, The Doris Taylor. Mike Taylor the owner/director of British Asian Shipping, liked to name all his ships after his family. .. If you and John had lived a life, you may know enough, to tell you that what I say maybe the truth. What could he possibly gain from it if not? But of course not. What can be expected of you? I can only smile and thank God I'm still here, Happily married and just became a Grandfather. Life's good, especially with my team on the up. You don't sound that very accomplish yourself Butch, and I'm sorry for you and your troubles on here, as well as poor old John. Who simply hasn't got a clue how to handle life, people, or defeat. But if you want to phone me for proof of my claim, I'll send you the proof. 07931560181. There. Simple isn't it, to find the truth. No such thing from Cairns though. He just #$%$ because life is a #$%$ for him. Period. I think you have a little more upstairs though, John so I look forward to you forwarding the truth to your buddy Butch. BTW. Come on you Gunners!!!

    This Manchester United Board

    by Alan H Apr 15, 2013 21:23

Hi Alan, I'm what they ( Utd Fans on here ) call an Abu, and I admit that I do go over the top on some of my posts. But when you try to discuss the game you are told were to "GO" in no uncertain terms.
If they want I will enter into constructive discussion on football no problem, Its a topic I enjoy discussing with any football fan , no matter what club they might support. lets hope that this post encourages some worthy discussions, I'm up for it .

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Stop it, you're cracking me up!

    HIC!!

  • No thinking along the lines of Manchini that calibre.. Hodgson is #$%$ and KD had been out of the game too long. Had KD still been a manager at the very top when we appointed him that would've been different. We got a KD that hadn't been a manager for many years. He was out of touch and it showed. So you approve of a manager trying to cut his teeth at a top club like ours then? There's plaent y of candidates out there that would've been perfect for us.. it's just dangling the carrot in front of them to get them. Villias Boas has been great with Spurs just the man we needed. Yes manybe that contracts my statement about wanting someone with expererience. He's the exception to the rule. We missed a trick there by not getting him. He never was suited for Chelsea but at a club like Spurs & LFC he'd have more freedom.

Man U needed an offside goal to hold Hammers

    by MCMXCIX Apr 17, 2013 21:41

When the ball was played, RVP wasn't interfering with play, just like the TWO Man City players who were in offside positions when City scored their first goal the other week.

Kagawa's shot deflected off a Hammers player, therefore RVP wasn't offside when he got the ball.

But, typically, there's one rule here for United, from slayer and the bint, and another for Arsenal, whose first goal against Norwich was scored from a corner that wasn't, the second from a penalty that wasn't, and a third whilst Walcott was offside ...... why no comment, slayer? by not_blonde_really Apr 19, 2013 16:24

we are a good side without him. but a much better 1 with him! he is easily our best player. another goal & even an assist today. u could just easily find stats saying we havent won without him scoring for ages. i dont think u need to stats to prove we are a much better team with bale in it. this is a good thread to prove people look too much in to stats!

  • Donald,
When you say robbed "again" at Anfield, were you referring to last year's 4-1 thrashing, maybe confused with our league and cup double at the Bridge, 2-1, 2-0 last year as well, or the year before with Roy Hodgson and Torres were still at Liverpool and we won 2-0 at Anfield..

Or maybe referring to something that happened almost 10 years ago?

    Jesus H Christ..
