    I can't see Liverpool getting past them to be honest. In a way i hope i'm wrong as it would be nice for the Reds to win something this season, and I think who ever goes through will have little trouble against Milan or PSV

    I think it would be a little harsh on Everton to miss out as well though... If I were the FA and had to make that decision I would make Everton and Liverpool play each other in a winner takes all match!

    I a little confused that we are talking about this subject this late in the season. My view and understanding of most sporting events is the champions defend there title the follow season.
    I do feel this clearly shows that the FA & UEFA have not considered this may be an issue, Everton should be allow into next years competion as should the champions, if the team that wins is in the top 4, then the extra place should go to the 5th place team.

    If L'pool win the champions league they should be in the competion next year as every team what's to beat the champions!
    If Everton finish 4th, they should be allow into the competion.
    UEFA need to get off there lazy backsides and start protecting the sport and the fans that make the sport possible, although I'm a red I'm not prepared to look in the direct of Everton to blame, this situation is not the fault of either team yet both have a valid claim.
    UEFA will sit back, wipe there hands and allow the siuation to esclate yet blame everyone else, they are weak because they can't/won't make a decision and I'm very concerned that this might cause terrible issues between liverpool and everton fans when we should be proud of the achievements of merseyside ......

    As far as I'm aware, winning the champions league is by far a greater achievement then com...

    As far as I'm aware, winning the champions league is by far a greater achievement then coming four .....
    but the issue is not about our 2 teams, its about honesty and fact, fourth place should go into the champions league as should the winner of the competition, whoever that maybe!
    This is all about the UEFA not doing the right thing not a competition between red and blue fans.
    Everton have had a great season and I hope the club can build on this years success, I'm also looking forward to watching the reds in next season and believe we should both be in the champions league.

    i'm a chelsea supporter and if by some miracle liverpool do get past chelsea then i will cheer them on in the final. but they have not shown the desire or consistency in the premiership to deserve that fourth champions league spot.All credit to evrton to get where they have on merit and they surely deserve the chance to prove themselves with the big boys.

    LPool will win the premship next season.Not just cos im a fan but because after a good clear out this summer..bring in some fresh hungry blood..the manager second season so he knows what to expect from the premiership so he will bring in players that are best equipped to deal with it...cisse back from injury...alonso ready...(if only Gerrad stays then i will stick with lvpool.

    I´m currently in Lanzarote, and if Liverpool manage to win tonight and then the whole competition i won´t come home and won´t watch the final as they are probably in the bottom 6 for be the most boring this season in the premiership. Look what a diabolical display they gave in the cup final for starters.

    lets just suggest for a minute (silly thought I know) that Chelsea finish 5th but win the CL this year, would you be happy that you couldn't defend as champions?
    My view to all this is how disappointed I am that most people see this as a competition between Everton and Liverpool, thats not the case, everton deserve the fouth place, if L'pool did win the CL would it be fair to say they deserve to defend it next year?

    it will be between the big three again, the blues can only build on their succes and with all that money behind them the team will only get better, while if thierry henry stays at aresenal they will always be in with a chance, but losing ashley cole will harm them and there squad depth needs to be sorted out. man utd will still be strong, but if malcolm glazer comes in to the set up it could make a big change, he is out to make money and i wouldn't be surprised if they sold some of their best players. As far as outsiders are concerned tottenham have a really young squad but there is a lot of talent there, liverpool will need another season before they are contenders and if they lose gerrard it would be a massive loss that could set them back years. newcastle won't be anywhere near the top four but may secure european football if sounness can stop the bickering and get some quality talent in and of course they still need a replacement to shearer
