Stevie Gerrard had a shocker against Chelsea in the Carling Cup final, and Liverpool were brilliant v Juve without him. I think Rafa should leave him on the bench, as the pressure on the lad would be too much and I suspect he might struggle again. Does anyone else agree with this, or is it madness to leave out your best player?

Yes I agree, they have not been good in the league but this is not the league, this is a european competition and L'pool have been one of the best teams in this competition, this year! -
Re: Should Liverpool drop Gerrard?
I wouldn't worry to much mate, he's going to Chelsea next season anyway ;-) JJ

firstly, has this been confirmed as it was my belive that liverpool would be in the champions league if they won it and everton would not. as the 4 places would go to the top 3 teams and the holders of the cup. or have i been informed wrong? i am of the personal belive that it would be a better competition and make for a better prem league if only the champions qaulified but the money was distributed evenly amongst the prem league teams rather than a few getting richer and the rest poorer.
anyway what do i care can't ever see pompey being in it so who cares. lol. 4-1(thought i would add that for the scummers) -

I'm a little concerned by all the paper talk this year and feel it has had an effect on the team, a decision is needed either way so the team can settle and move on

well this kind of situation happened in spain a few years ago and there are lessons to be learnt. real zaragoza finnished fourth ahead of real madrid in 2001 i think it was. But because the galacticos won the champions league zaragoza were demoted to the uefa cup and madrid went into the next champoins league. now zaragoza are in a terrible position in the spanish second division. liverpool, chelsea, arsenal and man utd are all big clubs and have the finances to go a year without the reveue from the champions league, everton on the other hand are a lot smaller and the competition could mean that they would get the money to be able to stay in the premiership. they were almost relegated last season and were favorites to drop this season to, so yes i would be happy to see everton in the champions league at the cost of chelsea because they would have deserved it and we wouldn't

its easy to predict the top four/five
Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and if Everton can build on this year I see them as a threat next year.
I expect the league will be tighter next season and the gap to not be as big, any of the three can win with Liverpool very near but a good outsider. -

That was my understanding but it seems people now want a big debate because its two clubs from the same city, I honestly can't see finishing fouth being more important then winning the CL .... BUT I believe the winners should always be in the competition and that shouldn't effect the places available, if L'pool win, both teams should be in the competition next season

I think that if they are'nt good enough to win 4th place in the Premiership, then they are'nt good enough to be entered into the Champions League. I think that it's wrong for the FA to change the rules just for Liverpool. It's always been the top 4 clubs that make it into the Champions League & thats the way it should stay.

the clues in the name of the trophy and for heavens sake when was the last time everton, liverpool or chelsea for that matter won the league. none of the teams deserve to qaulify unless you win it. why not just have a couple of knock out rounds then a half decent league with the champions(not 2,3,4,etc) in it. this would cut down the number of teams and make for a real competion where the best team overall wins. this would also increase the revenue into smaller country meaning that not only do there clubs increase in stature but also may help in the funding of general lives in this worse off countrys. theres more to live then football.
ps i hate europeon competitions because of this fact. -
