And how many World Champions do Scotland or Wales have?

We at least have two this year, James Toseland in WSB (2nd title) and the bloke that won the Conkers. OK that last one is a bit spurious but they all count.

sorry................you forget that the car's project is by Aldo Costa....... .and that the engines chief engineer till last year was Martinelli. It is very obvious that in today's world no one team may be made by just one nationality. Are the McLarens an english team ? Where does the engine come from ?

You know, I don't agree with the "best in 21 years" thing, yet your main point is perfectly valid: Lewis had an awesome season as a rookie and he deserves nothing was praise.

As for your preferences, looks like you enjoyed the 86 season a lot. What was so great about it? Did you enjoy the view of "Our Nige" blowing a tyre after a senseless move? Or Patrick Head robbing his own other driver (Piquet) by bringing him in when Prost was right on his back? We may have slightly different taste there...

My uncle had one of those. He used to get his foot stuck in that little air vent.
The air was blue but after an FIA inspection it was found not to be the fault of the fuel.
On a serious note (oh why?) Do you remember 1995 when Schumacher & DC, I think, were initially disqualified for fuel irregularities but were then reinstated - although Constructors points were lost if I recall.

I confused, I never mentioned that JV was good or that Hill was good, they were both not great. I'm pointing out the exact similarities between him and Hamilton. Hamilton is mediocre at best like JV, his performance on track has proven it. He can't win from anywhere but pole, his ability to pass is questionable and he essentially rode a string of McLaren successes to get his points. 4 wins and extreme reliability lead to his points tally, he did not once win from anywhere but pole position. Seems to me his "brilliant" drives are nothing but sitting in the car that is making him do well, and playing the odds as he doesn't always win from pole.

I would not be surprised if Hamilton amounts to nothing but an expensive contract.

"The value of investments may go down as well as up. So you may end off with less than what you invested." As a general rule stock market flotation is most suited to companies wishing to raise cheap capital. A cash rich business - which is how I would have thought LH's would be viz. money coming in from sponsorships, prizemoney and earnings - is most often best run as a private company. Just thought I'd mention that ..... Are his investment advisers the same ones as are conducting his PR coaching?

No shame in finishing second in your rookie season! A car failure prevented Lewis winning - not the overwhelming capability of Kimi or Alonso to beat him with driving ability on the track.......

Well I guess McL Racing and McL Eng. football coach have one thing in common - they've both rather cocked up lately! But I agree, one would expect anyone of true integrity to hold the interests of the sport at heart ahead of self interest. With all the mess that's gone before this season McL could have gone a little way to righting things by accepting the season end results with dignity. But by becoming embroiled in yet another dispute they're simply prolonging the agony of a disastrous season for the sport and further discrediting themselves in the process.

It's been a pathetic performance by Ron Dennis all season long.

He had a fine stallion to develop the car for his Designated One, but instead of supporting the more intelligent and experienced driver he chose to race against Alonso and back a little pony mesmerised by all the media hype and headlines.

Lewis & Anthony & Ron should set up a Shit Job franchise. Delivery guaranteed, whether in Asia or in South America. Lip service added free of charge if you happen to be visiting Monaco, Hungary or Belgium.

gxx, I asked you two questions and you answered neither one.
    I'll try it again:
1)How many titles Alonso would need to win for you to consider him to be a great Champion?...3,4,5,6 or more?
2)Likewise, how many titles should Lewis win for you to believe he's a great Champion?...1,2,3,4,...or maybe none cuz he's already a great Champion?:-)
I guess I put out there the right questions cuz you just refuse to give me a straight answer (lol).
Regarding regulations, I can tell you read those trashy british sport newpapers and you actually believe what they say (lol)...that's a tough cookie bro.
Alonso didn't break the rules in Hungary, theorically, because he was pitting, and the rules you're mentioning apply to the track itself, not the pits. Another tricky question was the fact that the guy he was holding off was his teammate...due to both situations the stewards had to make up a new rule as they went along for Alonso's wrongdoing to become an actual code violation...got it? It was actually an unprecedent situation and that's why it took hours to resolve, well into the night and the very early morning next day.
Respect Schumacher, I agree with you, he's the greatest so far, although I dont know where his deliberate crash into Villeneuve to try to win a Championship fits in your concept of graciousness and greatness (lol)...I guess we all are humans at the end of the day right buddy?
Alonso is not my heroe, I just dont understand how can you guys possibly regard little Lewis as such a great driver when he didnt accomplish anything yet but to lead to his own team to defeat along with Pirate Chief Ron Dennis. I just dont get why so many loons out in the little island need a hero so bad...it's quite bizarre to me, sorry. I mean, they act like a little nation of fatherless people, it's just freaky (lol). Folks down in Idaho dont act like that, and I think they are bigger than your little island (lol).
And to wrap it up buddy, Alonso didn't have any problem to congratulate Kimi right before and after they got together for the trophy and the press conference...what are you talking about? Actually he was almost chuckling, probably realizing how stupid and pathetic Ron and Lewis Dennis have managed the whole year, and specially the last races!.

Andy, Idaho is a gorgeous place... I go over there on vacation every year, since it's not that far away from my beloved CA, where I live. I just compared it to England because to us both are pretty much equally important, or unimportat if you will...so I thought why Britons cant live without heroes but my folks down in Idaho can...? I dont know, maybe they're just stronger:-)
Sir Francis Drake and his atrocities all throughout the Caribbean and out in Ireland...? You just need to wikipedia him buddy...oh yeah, I forgot he was a vicious slave trader too...as I said, a charming cookie (lol). There are also dozens of books on the subject in any Public Library in LA County, and most of them (maybe not the ones publushied in your little island though) agree on the basics. He was a brutal murderer and plunderer, and also a cruel slave trader. But as I said, lets move on, who cares?...I dont, that's for sure.
Regarding the rest of you post, yap yap yap, the same boring drone that turn you guys so much, full with unaccuracies and nativism blown out of proportion. Lewis is God because is a Briton, tha's it.
Good luck to you buddies, because you'll need a great deal of it if you keep putting your money on feeble idols like little Lewis...He's still shitting himself as we speak (lol).
