So glad Raikonen won, a grumpy man but a great driver who waited his time and grabbed the glory when least expecter. As for Hamilton... what a cocky little git... Alonso probably didnt deserve the title either for his conduct but Hamilton certainly didnt deserve it the way he behaved and the amount of time he broke the rules. From that point of view I gues we have our new Schumacher!!!

Public-spirited Mr.Hamilton jnr (himself still wet behind the ears) claimed he was pursuing a notorious puppy-snatcher who with wife Grizelda were driving a commandeered Cottbus taxi and overtaking in unbelievable places - par for both gents there!
Truth is that being the dog days of F1 the boys have organised a pan-European Cannonball Run - so watch out for more reports of hair-raising festive season drives from celebrities across the continent. At last some real action!! -

Whats with all the negative points about todays race it was dull as usual but brilliant,.Who would have thought that lewis would crack under title pressure, and dont say he didnt i`m a lewis fan and i`m telling you he pushed too hard and cooked it plain and simple.
It just goes to show how far he has to come still, but what a rookie HE IS THE BEST ROOKIE EVER.
What a race for kimi, fantastic.A bit of mess about with pit orders though for him to get infront. One thing did anyone see a mclaren person with alonso for coming third lol.
Bring on 2008, i cant wait to see what happens next.Who will have gonzo alonso, i bet its not mclaren.
Well done lewis hold your head up high. -

As we don`t sit in on the hearings, seldom get the complete unedited (particularly technical) details. I personally don`t think I can sit in judgement on the FIA/WMSC decisions.
What you`re suugesting is sentencing someone without hearing the evidence.
Seems more prejudiced & unjust than the status quo. -

Far too simple and absolutely no chance of someone getting punished (or not) for breaking some strange rule that was on page 99 of the qualifying rule book :-)
I totally agree - said basically the same thing somewhere down here

I only know the outline of what he said, and haven't read the full article, but I wouldn't be surprised if the case was dropped - as he is from F1 circuits next year.
Either that or there'll be some amazing piece of evidence appear in the court case that MM knows about that strings MB up by the short and curlies.
Or MB is tipped off in advance that there is some extra evidence that no-one knows about and prints a retraction. -

I think you`re right, Graham - driving on ice/snow helps give them an edge.
As to whether that makes them better with no TC, though, I don`t know.
I reserve my judgement on whether no TC is a good thing or not. Half of me is inclined to think that`s it`s just to enhance the show for the prang-lovers. -

Joe P, Monday the 7th is a bank holiday in Spain so I won't be able to call them until Tuesday.
I'll find out whether the tests scheduled for 25 to 27 February will be open to the public and I'll post the reply right here on this message board.
Cheers,
Michel Angstadt. -

IF that's the case, then how was Heikki's contract worded?? With RD originally shouting equality and HK signing on the dotted line only for Mercedes to change the script - if I was HK I'd be slightly p'd off. From the recent LH remarks it sounds as if he (or Anthony) were previously aware of this.
Machiavellian goings on still rooted in McLaren - oops, sorry Mercedes - then.
Love to see HK running just ahead of LH on 16th March and watch what happens - but presume HK will have '2nd string' material to work with. The British press no doubt can lap it all up. -

or come to that, this one from back in August

If you`re asked a leading question & reply with an honest opinion it makes you a cry baby, I gather. -

They aren't the only ones who have said exactly the same thing but they have singled out an individual rather than looking at the cause of the problem - their own inconsistency.
Reading the official Press Releases from the FIA and WMSC, and not the abridged versions that are published in the press, does make you realise just how mixed up they are. Yes they talk about unfair advantage, then they talk about proof, then about the fact that they have no definitive proof as it is impossible to quantify that advantage. So an unquantifiable advantage is unfair – talk about mixed up and inconsistent.
I’m just waiting for the next furore, when I’ll still be trying to understand what they’re talking about, why it isn’t consistent with previous decisions regardless of the poor unfortunates on the receiving end and I’ll still be trying to get an even-handed fair decision - even if it is Ferrari ;o) -

"..... and you are unlikely to find someone who isn't a Ferrari fan (this really isn't about McLaren) who disagrees with it......."
I think there are probably a few Renault fans out there who may disagree, Graham. They`re even thinner on the ground in here than Ferrari followers!
I can`t comment on Lauda because I didn`t hear his broadcast & wouldn`t have understood it if I had :o)
I`ve no doubt they were all giving a personal opinion. An opinion based on knowing no more of the facts than were in the public domain anyway.
Only those privy to all the information which appeared at the hearings know all the facts.
I also agree it`s a case of the public thinking the FIA is inconsistent.
I just happen to think that a lot of this is down to the same cause - what the public are told by the people they rely on to give them info.
How many journalists who cover the sport take the time to explain the issues, regulations & decisions - not just give personal opinions which subsequently may, & in this case have, proved to be incorrect.
It isn`t that I think they shouldn`t be able to say "This is my opinion". It`s that I think they also have a duty to say "These are the facts, this is what is happening & why". It should be clear which is which - opinion or fact.
Unfortunately, the FIA can`t do anything when they are themselves one of the favourite targets of the press. That`s the whole problem.
