The guy's name is Otto Skorzeny, and I came across him whilst researching a story about Dwight D Eisenhower when he was the Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in Europe.
The story was that he arrived in Paris after D-Day, when the fighting was over, obviously, and heard of a plot to assassinate him. He then locked himself away in the Paris Ritz Hotel, (I think it was), surrounded the place with troops, and spent the rest of the war there, eventually having to hand over effective command to Monty.
This led me to Skorzeny.
