Realistically we won't win it but I do think 3rd is possible (Arsenal 4th, they are fading now). If we beat the Mancs and Arsenal things could get very interesting. Chelsea and the Mancs play each other late April so points will be lost by somebody there. It's a big ask but if we can keep this forml going we will be pretty close to the top. Just to reiterate what I have always said, that this season is "bedding in", the real challenge will start next season.

Goes without saying we have to win all 3. In fact Spurs beating City would be even better in the scenario as that would mean 2 draws at the other games, entirely possible but it all goes pear shaped if we don't win tomorrow!

One game I remember in particular though was a 5-0 drubbing of Notts Forest. Beardsley at his very best, Barnes playing superbly and Aldridge on fire. I felt sorry for Forest as they actually played well and the scoreline didn't reflect that. We were just completely unstoppable that day. I remember taping it off MOTD and it was classed as such a good game it got repeated by the BBC which was a very rare occurance. -

Hate to say it but he is right. I would be happy with a draw but we really do need to go there and win. Not only will it stop us falling further behind but it will give us belief as a team again, something we do not seem to have at the moment. Hope Sissoko is back as we need to boss the midfield to have any chance at all of getting a result and if we do then our season is reborn! It's not going to be easy by any means, the Mancs are on fire at the moment. Whether they're peaking too soon is anyone's guess but it's down to us to knock them off their perch. Come on lads we NEED this win!! YNWA

Could be interesting now that Lampard is out. Hopefully Stevie back to his favourite position and able to demonstrate this is the way forward. Lennon is supposed to start on the right. Carragher apparently dropped which I am completely mystified at!
If we don't win comfortably tonight then McLaren has to go!!! -

Ok I do agree with some of your points. I too was very suprised at Mascherano coming off and I would have risked Kewell to start with Zenden as sub. I would have also put Crouch on no later than 60 minutes into the game. Bellamy definitely not!!
What you have to acknowledge is that in the first half we were by far the better side and were very unlucky to go in 1-0 down. There was nothing wrong with the tactics up to that point. That goal was our downfall as we had to start pushing forward and leaving ourselves exposed as the game went on and Milan capitalised on that (just as we would have done if it had been the other way round). If that goal had not gone in then it would be a completely different ball game.
You are entitled to your opinions about Rafa but for me he has done a great job with the players he has had. A lot of the players bought last year were 2nd or 3rd choices so he has had to make the best of a bad job. Rafa has now set his stall out and we should be getting the players that he really wants now. If we get these players and we do not drastically improve within the next 2 years then of course he should be replaced. There are a lot of young players coming through and I can see us having a 5-10 year quality side. We don't want one season wonders!!
I suggest you start calling for heads at the end of next season when we have a level playing field. I am not expecting a haul of trophies but I am expecting a big improvement certainly with our league position. In the meantime stop the anti Spanish crap and be a bit more open minded!
Oh and cut out the Caps lock. I was always told if you have to shout in an argument then you have just lost the argument! -

This is more than just a transfer. Rafa is clearly out to prove a point and to show that he is not intimidated by anyone. It could turn into a bit of a media circus and will certainly fire up the rivalry between the 2 teams if nothing else. If we get Heinze then Rafa has the moral high ground over Fergie and that makes any tie between us over the next season particularly mouthwatering. I bet Fergie will refuse to shake hands etc. Can't wait!

Build the squad in January. That way they have nearly 8 months to bed in rather than 6 weeks. Then we are fully prepared for next season.
