I've been a blue now for around 25 years and i have to admit, other than that truely world class side from the 80's this squad is probably the best we have and it gives me a lot of hope. Our Eufa cup run this year has been fantastic to watch (other than Metallist) and lets hope we have a similar run in the Champions league next year.

Moyes in general is proving to be a great manager...yes sometimes his decisions are baffling and some of his buys have been poor (Kroldrup) but overall i'm very happy he's in charge as he's changed our squad into a youthfull outfit full of international players or future international players.

Unfortunately, i still think there are a few areas we need to improve in squad wise, Hibbert can have a storming game every now and then but he dives in too much and gives away too many freekicks etc...we still need a bit more creativity as we really do miss Arteta who in my opinion is WORLD CLASS, maybe with Pienaar fit, Graveson fit, and Fernandes match fit we could cover for him but he's still a big miss.

Up front i'm happy, Yakubu just scores for fun at any team he's played for, Vaughan and Anichebe will be our two top strikers in a couple of years and Johnson works his socks off (could do with scoring more though).

What are everyones opinion with regards to the stadium move? I for one am for it, yes i love Goodison, every blue does and in an ideal scenario I would love it to be redeveloped, but its just not feasible. Therefore Kirkby is the best option, its only a few miles from Goodison and to be able to have that fantastic stadium with so little debt is amazing, we would have sooo much more revenue to put into generating a WORLD CLASS squad again....just look at Finch Farm.....world class...we will get back there.

As it is i'm a little worried about this season, there is no doubt if we concentrate on the league we can finish 4th, alternatively if we concentrate on the UEFA cup we can win that, but to do both will take a lot of luck and we need players to keep fit. 5 games in 16 days with potentially 2 semi legs...what do you concentrate on?? All i say is COYB against Brann....lets keep our run going.

    Guys,

Just looked at an interesting website. http://www.rightresult.net/index.php

If refs gave the correct decisions we would be in 3rd.

Makes interesting reading, we would have wrapped up 4th by now and we would have had a superior goal difference over all our rivals too.

I had to laugh when you notice which team has benefitted the most by incorrect decisions. I think you can guess who it is. We should be 12 points ahead of them with a far superior goal difference counting as an extra point!!!!

A great result and fully deserved. The ladies have set the standard and the chaps are performing brilliant also. Hopefully we'll have another Everton captain lifting the Uefa cup come may.

Its a great time to be a blue!!

Sorry mate, should have rephrased that...i'm 28..but can only remember watching it for the last 25 years or so...

Pienaar is a defnite must for me also...class player...at the start of the season, him and Arteta were formidable on the wings. Your right about FB, i always think he's going to dive in a get sent off or give away stupid penalties or freekicks, plus i don't think his delivery is great into the box.

it will be 5 games if we get to the UEFA semi's, so hopefully it will be a probem we have.

  • Lampard decision & top 4 mentality

I must admit I am very dissappointed to see the recent article that Frank Lampard has had his red card rescinded, not because it was a particularly violent incident as to be honest I thought it was handbags stuff with both of them having little kicks at each other and pushes, but its the fact that this really does highlight the utter uselessness of the FA and the governing body. How on earth can they let Lampard off and yet give the middlesboro lad an extra game ban, its ridiculous. I swear the police need to seriously start looking at the bank accounts of the the people that decide these things (and the bank accounts of their wives and kids) this reeks of bias towards the so called top 4 clubs, i say top 4 as its actually the top 3 and the 5th club. Just look at the Gallas decision??? he kicked out for christ sake, did the FA rescind Petrovs red at Man City??? no, and how about the middlesboro lad, yes he tapped him on the cheek but to be honest a fly could have caused more pain, and was the liverpool lad punished??? no he wasn't!!! I'm telling you this is either corruption or just the FA idiots living in cloud cuckoo land and its no wonder the lower teams don't bother appealing!!! its a joke, and i for one hope the middlesboro chairman launches a massive legal campaign and the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd are relegated to the championship like the Italy corruption, cus they cerainly get a fair share of dodgy referee decisions go there way also!!!

I 100% agree with you, this squad needs to win silverware....regularly... to even be mentioned in the same breath of the 80's team. But i do think its the best we've had since then.

Without doubt, if we are to break into the top 3 of Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea then we need a better squad and i think the finances generated by a new stadium will help no end...just look at the figures generated by the Emirates.

Of our current crop, i think Arteta, Cahill, Lescott, Yobo and the way he's currently playing Jagielka can get into the top teams (or at least they would want them as top class squad players). For the future, i think Osman, Baines, Vaughan, Anichebe are real prospects too.

Why would this thread mention you guys? I was talking about what our squad should be aiming for. The only teams above us in the league are Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea, the big 3. They are the only teams we are focused on, why would we be aiming to compete with teams that are below us?

I'm not an Arsenal or Man Utd fan but i'm just wondering how is it that Gallas is not retrospectively punished for his kick on Nani? Yes Nani was a show boat and taking the piss but a kicks a kick.

The point is more along the lines of 'Are the FA saying its ok to kick someone if you have reason to'? Because thats retalliation and where do you draw the line? punching? head butting? The game was watched by millions of kids and its such a bad example to set.

Also how can they retrospectively punish other teams now? Its things like this that do give credence to the other clubs argument that the BIG teams get preferential treatment. I mean the ref in the liverpool game could have potentially cost Barnsley a fortune by not giving a blatant penalty....fortunately Barnsley got what they deserved. Would other teams have gotten away with what Gallas did? Thoughts?

It isn't just Arsenal...Man U get more than there fair share of preferential treatment...perhaps more so than Arsenal to be fair....(other than the FA Cup Draw which hasn't favoured them at all)

Good point, i think the Emirates is 60,000 cap.

I believe EFC mentioned there is the potential to increase the new stadium capacity if we want to fill the corners up in the future but we still won't have the capacity of Old Trafford. Hopefully the extra revenue to make us compete will also come from the corporate side of things, naming rights etc...
