Leeds United Message Board
-
Phil, too many years of Bates at Leeds has created negative expectations so what you say is what most fans are thinking. The new 'owners' have to draw a line in the sand to separate them from Bates yet, with Bates still involved, it's hard to see how they're doing this. Signing new player targets would help. But, so far, no news is bad news - it's as if nothing has changed.

Rats deserting, probably... eeek!

Hey, Dunster, it's good to see you posting on this board...or anyone! I've almost stopped checking it for new messages - thanks, Yahoo!
It was a bad term for both the Blues and Leeds - our clubs' fates seem to be linked - but we'll come back stronger in the 2013-14 season!
Congratulations to Badford City today! -
Wow, Easy, you got a 'thumbs down' for this post; the first I've seen on this board! If Leeds hadn't beaten Watford then Hull would be in the play-off mix. So ill feelings about Leeds are unneccessary (think ill, become ill!), and just celebrate your success.
-
What do you reckon Pool's chances are of bouncing back up? And how do you rate Kavanagh as a potential manager? I remember him as a half-decent player in Roy Keane's Sunderland but didn't know that he had managerial experience... Use Easy's tab to buy him a few drinks in you local and get back to us with the inside track.
Georgie Best used to drink in our local.
Lunchtime O'Booze,

Soft drinks only, lads. This year has been a sobering experience.
-
Al, what is going on at Pools?
-
Talking of Bates, I expect him to be on the list of tax dodgers with offshore accounts that HMRC is going after. It would be so good to see him brought to book after so many years of "getting away with it". We might even find out who owns ER and Thorp Arch!
-
Easy should come on the Leeds board (what's left of it) and explain his colours - are they white and true or yellow and black! . Well done Hull but without Bates think where Leeds may be... Somewhere Hull will never be - WACCOE!
-
'Just sending a message, I hope - as yahoo seems to be screwing up these boards - of congratulations to the Tigers from a Leeds fan... You owe us!

Hi Bryan,
I replied yesterday, at length, but my message has vanished. I'll keep this short -
It's a dirty rotten shame - three great teams in three tiers and every one a loser! It won't always be this way; our day will come - City will do the double over Manure, Pools will bounce back, and Leeds... Hmmm; I'm moderately optimistic about our new manager (I'd be more optimistic if we too could get backing from rich Arabs); but this new shirt with a broad blue stripe down the front is not White. The new shirt seems to indicate the divisions, uncertanity, and lack of identity at Leeds; it's logical progression will see Leeds in the following season playing in shirts with a broad yellow stripe on their backs...
No, sorry Al, I will not buy this new shirt; I'll get my all white Strongbow shirt out of mothballs and wear it until LUFC and its 'new owners' take Leeds fans seriously. -
Thanks Dunster, it's always good to hear from you - your comments usually put supporting our various teams in a rational perspective.
Good luck to you and yours next term... I'd say "give Fergie a bloody nose" but, hey, he could light Santa's slay without any help from City! -
There should be a lot to talk about but ATM I'm as underwhelmed about Leeds as I am about the new shirt!
-
One - nil! What a Brummer! Now it's all about predicting what will happen in the close season and our fortunes next term.
-
Leeds revving up for an away win at St Andrews - our first in 2013!
Okay, results matter no longer as our (and Birmingham's) season is all but over. Nevertheless, an away win would represent more than just consolation for Leeds' dire performances on-the-road this season; it would dispel anxieties about Leeds' away form next season.
I'm optimistic about a Leeds win (maybe 1-2) because, at last, we have a Leeds manager who, like Don Revie, studies opponents, respects them, and does his best to eliminate chance...
McDermott: "We'll play no differently. I'll pick the team, look at how Birmingham play and come up with a game plan" -
Just like that! What the feck did Tommy Cooper know about football; FFS he wore a fez - Turkish Canute!
-
Al, I gave your post a thumbs up for its wit (untimely funerals etc), not your belief that Pools have gone down - there's still six points to win (and Pompy and Scunny to lose!) to clear the drop, Recent wins against Tranmere and Bury shows that Pool is capable - don't give up on your team.
And, anyway, if Pools drops to L2 what of it! Leeds in L1 was pretty much the same as Pools in L2 and Leeds fans kept the faith - until we realised that we were being schafted by Bates. At least Pool has honest owners! -
Bryan, "reasonably happy" seems meagre praise for a manager who's got Leeds playing football again. McDermott has our existing team playing to their strengths; imagine how a team of his own choosing will play!
-
Warnock, in his The Independent column today, congratulated McDermott on his appointment as the new Leeds manager; adding that McDermott has inherited a great team - can you believe it!
For the first half against the Wendies Leeds played like a Warnock side; the second half was pure McDermott. Leeds can only get better now - they couldn't get much worse! - and there is a slight scent of glory returning to our club. However, the stench of Bates', and Warnock's, dealings at Leeds lingers.
