If we don't play Nasri then we stand to lose more than £25m by not qualifying and not being able to attract quality players before the window closes. And with Wilshere now not travelling the options are getting fewer and fewer.
What if Nasri plays, we qualify, we buy Merteseker, Baines, Sweinsteiger, Benzema, Hazard, and make decent attempts on the ECL & EPL thrashing Citeh 4-0 away, maybe nasri will stay? Always look on the bright side . . . . . . . -

Any comment on the actual personnel that might arrive in Jan or next summer is pure guess work. As AW has said if the right quality comes along at the right price then he would buy, problem is the quality we need is not available at our price so any wish list of Goetze, Hazard etc is dreamland I'm afraid.
We definately need a stronger No 2 GK and a utility defender who can play central or wide. we have a lot in the middle so it depends who goes as to who might arrive. And we all know we need a quality striker to back up RVP.
As to who goes, well that's easier. Flapianski, Almunia, Squillacci, Yossi's loan will probably end in him leaving, Arshavin, Chamakh, Rosicky, and to me Park is just not good enough. And waiting in the wings on loan are Bendtner, Denilson, who we dont want to see again, and Vela who will probably stay in Spain.
I expect maybe 5 out, one or two bigger buys in, and two or three from AW's bargain basement of unsung talent. We will be in with a shout for fourth this year so that will obviously help. -

Bang on with Torres hamstrings, he just can't do it like he could, same as Owen. so £20m would be way too much and they won't loan him in the EPL, especially to us.
Full backs a major worry though, baines? can't see them letting him go -

Steve Bould is another yes man, a crap coach who will be another puppy dog. We need a defensive coach who will face up to AW, Adams would do that but AW knows so Tone would never get the job.

In my infrequent posts to this site I've often said that more players leave the Arsenal and regret it, than move on to greater things.
Hleb has sat warming the players lounge at barca for a year and now back to Germany, at least he has been honest and spoken of his mistake. The money grabbers who have departed for the city cash are unlikely to do the same, Adebeyor is one of 9 strikers so will enjoy the workrate required from the bench while he counts his wedge. Toure looks set to enter a prolonged period of sustained injury as one of 10 first team defenders.
The game against city in September should be a great test for the new pretenders. If we can keep it solid at the back AA and RVP should tear them apart. Bring it on -

His time will come and his form will return. There are far weaker links in the chain than Arshavin. Frustrating yes, dispensable no.

Don't think AW is that concerned about fans expectations, if he is going to buy he obviously needs to keep his cards close to his chest to avoid the usual price inflation tactics in the media.
Also have to ask the question does he ultimately want 5 first team central defenders, Djourou, TV, Squillaci and Kosh plus another. He may be thinking that song can do a job. Personally wouldn't want to go into the next six weeks with only two fit 1st choice CB's and would like to see any one of the three or four names knocking around the press to come in the window, just not convinced it'll happen.
Similar situation with GK, Sczesny and Fabianski doing OK of late but a couple of major errors and everyone will be saying why didn't he buy? -

Done well, Maybe only Gio, Cashley has done OK but he is hated and his personal life has been in question, Silvinho done well but would have stayed if didn't have passport issues. Viera, TH, Pires, Parlour, Freddie etc were approaching twighlight years ans took bigger money elsewhere. Done worse, Flamini, Hleb, Reyes, Baptista, Senderos (its over for him really), Lauren, etc.
The only AW policy I would question is not keeping the likes of Pires, Edu, Viera, Sol (what happened there?) around for a bit longer despite the costs, like Giggs and Scholes.
If Eduardo performs for a whole season, AA continues, RVP keeps constant form, Rosicky returns, Gallas steadies now his enemy has gone, Song keeps improving and some of the younger players make a mark then we will be OK. Is Almunia good enough though? -

I know we're short, I know he has bags of experience, but £7m for a 31 year old with dodgy knees? Gallas for another year or two seems a bargain, and as old cauliflower ead' says a 'no-brainer' by comparison.
