No matter how hard it is to take, SAF is not particularly good in Europe. We've qualified for something like the last 15 years but always struggled to get through the group games and past 1/4 final stage. United are not good at stiffling games and though United are good at attacking, defending is not their forte, whereas the top European sides (and I don't include Liverpenpool) do both - and well.

We should have more to show than the 1999 win.

Although I've been a United fan for decades, I have to agree with the other posters that Liverpool's record is better than United's.

Now if you want to shift goalposts and timebox our 'greatest' period then that's a different matter. As the Chelsea fan says, the last 4 years leaves us behind them. You can't just carve things up to suit yourself. As I said at the beginning, what is this post about?

Take issue with some of this (and United did win the Super Cup; we beat some one - Dynamo Bucarest? - 1:0 at home and didn't play the away leg for some reason).

And United did not opt out of the FA Cup because they saw it as a MM competition but because the FA and all it's overpaid advisors could not come up with any idea to get around United being away for the 3rd & 4th rounds.
