Can England beat Pakistan in the Natwest series? Do these One Day Internationals provide suitable practice for the forthcoming Ashes or will England be entering the tournament down-under unprepared?

Have to say, i'm not feeling too confident. In fact, i think we're in for a bit of a shoeing. Can there possibly be any more injuries? Are we actually going to end up playing a bunch of second-choice reserves and school kids?

I think with a fully fnctioning fully fit squad we could have given the Aussies a run for their money but now, it doesn't look too likely. Honestly speaking, how many tests do people think we can win?

Ok, it's fair to say that they've already lost all their pride along with all the Ashes Tests. But can they come away from Australia with a few wins in the ODIs at least? Do they have anything left to give? Or will Australia go all-out int he last few ODIs to prove a point?

Why do you assume that anyone who visits the Manchester United Board will be a Manchester United fan? You clearly aren't and you're also clearly not interested in the question at hand which was about whether or not the Carling Cup should exist at all.

Of course Man Utd fans celebrated last year. They won. Thet's not the issue. Should there be a Cup in the first place? I personally would argue YES. There's still a great following for the cup and it gives teams who might not stand a chance of winning anything, an opportunity to get some silverware in their cabinets. Watford could easily have won last year...

How well are the British likely to do in Vancouver? Will the pressure on them be higher following the impressive haul by their Summer Olympics compatriots?

To be fair, there's no reason why Europe won't do it. They've got some fantastic golfers and will arguably be better prepared for the weather. I think Clark will be very motivated to perform and Casey will be buzzing following a great recent run.

    Tiger who?

Watching England always brings on a strange feeling of Déjà vu. They start in a promising manner - some good play, a couple of exciting movements, maybe even a shot or two on goal. And then England start showing their true colours and every fan across the land gets bored.

So. Here's the question. What needs to happen for England to win games against real teams? AND, are they ever going play any exciting football again? When was the last time any of you were truly thrilled by an England game?

First of all a well-deserved congratulations to The Shrimpers for an outstanding performance against ManU. It really is good to see that there are instances when underdogs can triumph and where the gap between the big-money top flight and lower leagues is lessened.

However, this is a question that seems to rear its head every season. What's the point of the League Cup? Does it not just water down the FA Cup? It confuses many of the English league's foreign fans and adds a lot of pressure to teams with an already jam-packed fixtures list.

Top flight teams either field their reserves or risk injuries to their top players for a trophy that really doesn't offer anything apart from a shiny trophy.

Now, don't get me wrong, it is great for lower league teams. I just don't think we should be forcing Premiership sides to compete unless there was something to gain from it like a UEFA place. Attendances are also always pitiful so there's evidence to suggest that the fans themselves are not too keen.

Why not reserve the League Cup for lower-league sides? What do you all think?

Well, i think its fair to say that 38 (or however many) years without a victory over sweden is a bit frustrating but even so, I think tonight is the night where we really can give them a footballing lesson. Everything is looking right for a great game. Bring on Ecuador...
