Yes, and Cyprus rank ahead of Sweden, Denmark and Croatia at18th yet are not going to the WC. And Barca ranks 1st yet got spanked by Bayern and Man U sit 9th yet got beaten by West brom who sit 15th. Football rankings are meaningless. League tables are more meaningful. Unless of course you are and Arsenal fan and than the current league table simply states the truth.
A bit touchy? I don't recall saying or thinking you can't have an opinion or calling you an idiot like you do so easily. I just think you opinion is silly in this particular case. 2 good team and AC is not even that good, don't make a group of death.
And yes Ajax, and I am an admirer of them, did beat Barca (without Messi), and Arsenal beat Bayern Munich last year. What is the point?
I am not too worried about the city game. Sure they have a big edge with an extra day rest but they try to play football and that works in our favor.
I think we made some tactical errors last night and I believe we should have brought on Walcott, I also still believe Arteta is left wanting at this level as is Giroud. But hey, we can't get it right every game and defending a 3-0 lead is always hard.
I predict a good result against C|ity and can watch the game in the comfort that a draw or loss is OK as well.
I am more worried about the Chelsea game.
Now you are being silly, and heavily biased. Ajax and Celtic never had a chance to get out of group H. Two tough teams does not make a tough group since more often than not they both progres to the knock-out stages. Napoli, Arsenal and Dortmund are all miles ahead of Ajax and Celtic and as was proven, where well matched against each other. This was the most competitive group and the final standing proves it.
I also watched the game and normally I would be very nervous about this game but at no time did it feel to me that Arsenal were in danger of not qualifying. Sure, I don't think this team is at its best trying to defend a 3-0 lead and that is what it looked like they were doing last night but 1-0 down after 90 minutes it never looked close to us being knocked out. The first half we were solid and I thought once Cazorla went out and Ramsey came in we became a bit sloppy.
I think this loss might set us up well for the City game.
The same will apply for the City game Ie City will be the more rested team and already have the deeper squad. I think we did a good job yesterday against Napoli in the first half, we should have been more determined to score and could have gotten the draw. Giroud is not deadly enough, compare that to Higuain who scored out of nowhere.
I am happy and don't care too much if we get a Barca or Real, being eliminated from the knockout stages is better than playing in the "other cup" like Spurs.

For me Everton are a better team than Man U (at the moment at least) so why would there be shame for Man U to lose? Chelsea are a bit of up and down under Moureen and losing to a side who play better than they do (on most days) is not a shame either.
I was very impressed by Everton yesterday. Sure I would have liked us to convert some of our chances and gotten the win, it was possible, but didn't happen.
More importantly from a football lovers point of view it is nice to see how well they play and no shame in Man U and Chelsea losing to this team. Some times these thinner squads fade later in the year but at the moment I think they are amongst the 3 most attractive playing teams in the PL and if they can keep these performances up they have a real shot of winning CL football. Martinez has done a great job in a short period of time.
Mertesacker thought this was Arsenal's most difficult game this year and I can see why.
On an other note this game once again highlighted why we need a deadly striker to compete for all trophies if you ask me. Giroud is an admirable work horse with decent stats but he is by no means a Suarez or Aguero or Dzeko. In games like yesterday a striker might only get three chances and Giroud didn't convert the once he got, to me this is the difference between big game great strikers and very good striker.
I could live with a defeat against City if it came with a win against Chelsea. On the positive side Chelsea play 9 games in December so at least all contenders have a heavy game load. I am watching Flamini's injury situation because he seems to be getting injured often now. I he manages to stay fit I am optimistic for December since I am not sure Arteta's old legs have seven games on the trot in them and to maintain our solid defensive record we need strong performances from our defensive midfielders.
I am not so bothered by being in 1st come January since I don't believe the PL will be won in December however if we could open a 7 point gap that would be a big step in the right direction.
Am I correct in assuming given our +5 goal differential vs Napoli's -1 that we can afford to lose by 2 goals against them?
Everton are dangerous and play well at the moment dispatching without too much trouble of Man U and being miles ahead of them in the table, they will arrive with loads of confidence.
Man U clearly struggling without RVP. I think they dropped 7 out of 9 without him and over used him over the last season and a half. I think he is done and burned out and too old to get back to being the dominant player he was last year. Of course it doesn't help he is in the hands of a manger who doesn't know how to use him. This is not great for Holland's already slim World Cup chances. (Or maybe RVP is saving himself for the WC having seen enough of Moyes to know where this season will end up.)
That would be a dream combo. Not sure Wenger would spend the money needed and perhaps Saurez would want to go to Real. He is without a doubt in my mind the best striker in the PL with Aguero not far behind.
I have to say that to me it did look like a penalty and 9 out of 10 times in situations like that where the keeper dives for the ball, misses it and makes contact with the player it is a penalty.
I do agree though that Man U seem to have the weakest squad of the top 6 teams, perhaps together with Liverpool. To me in pure talent and quality terms, thus not considering the added value or destructive value of the manager, Chelsea have the best squad with City not far behind and Arsenal coming in probably 3rd and Spurs not far behind us. Thanks to AVB Spurs are further down and thanks to the strength of our starting 11 who might be 2nd only to Chelsea and thanks to Wenger and the way we play we are in 1st for the moment.
Liverpool with out Sturridge are on par with Man U to me and under Moyes will always give teams a battling effort but it won't be convincing very often as was shown against Spurs which was still a very good result for them.
It is way too early and injuries could change things but for me the race is between Chelsea and Arsenal with City having the potential to join it.
Ou obvious weak spot is Giroud who is our only option upfront and who doesn't easily score on the road, if he gets injured for a long period we will have to see how we fair but on the bright side we are not as reliant on Giroud as Man U are on RVP or as Liverpool is on Suarez. We have many players at the moment who can score and change a game. Not even Ozil is that important to us. This is the sign of a strong team IMO.

They way I think about it is that the PL is still wide open with Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Liverpool a little ahead in my mind of Spurs and Man U. Having said that thus far we are the best team in PL as far as I am concerned and we are in the race with a good chance and when is the last time we could honestly say that? That's enough to be excited.
In the CL we are on thin ice but a draw should see us through. IMO at the moment we would have to fear Real, Bayern and Barca as better teams and Chelsea purely because Moureen seems to have Wenger in his pocket and is a solid cup type of manager. Either way I don't mind how far we go in the CL as long as we make it into the knock out phase. Winning it seems like a bridge too far for the PL teams including Arsenal.

Let's face it, for you, win (Dortmund away, Liverpool, Spurs) or lose (Man U, Villa) Arsenal are never the better or best team.

But our season thus far has not been better than Man U's, some how, and never mind the 5 point lead.

I am happy to see where Arsenal will be in six games and am quite confident it will still be in the top 1 to 4, but I am not speaking about the next 6 games. After one third of the season Arsenal have been the best team.
And if Arsenal are doing 3 points worse than you expected, and you expected them to be in 1st than I missed that prediction and that you had higher hopes for them than I.
Perhaps you can tell me what you think Arsenal's final league position will be.
