Blackburn Rovers Message Board
You have to feel sorry for the lad that he picked up an other long term injury. In the short term I don't think this has to be all that bad for Arsenal sine it prevents Wenger playing Arteta and Wilshire at the same time, a combination I was not a great fan of and not only because of the lack of pace it introduced to our game.
I is possible this forces his hand to play Ox a little more often in the middle and Narby out wide. I think we do better with a little more pace in the squad and Ox has been playing with conviction.
Of course this thins our squad out even further but I don't think this injury, given Wilshire's indifferent form, will be as devastating to our season as Ramsey and Walcott's injuries have been.
And who knows maybe the new Swede, Kallstrom, will pleasantly surprise us, he is supposedly near ready to play.
There must be something in the water over here. There is no other reason I would continue to exchange with messages that have so very little content other than anger. Peace be with you brother.
It is your day today so I will throw you a bone:
irk: to make weary, irritated, or bored
So if you ask me why I would say that it irks (for you read: irritates) me Giroud and Wilshire go down so easily, it is not difficult to understand if you had the will to understand or the intention. In your case your intention is to look for things you can pretend to take exception with. But for your benefit the reason is because they go down too easily IMO.
I am sure I am blinded by biased with respect to Arsenal but I try to be objective, even if it is from time to time, and to me Giroud and Wilshire are like babies on the pitch. Talking about not knowing football. How do you explain going down as often as they do, crying for a whistle by the ref, but not getting it? They clearly have trouble figuring out the limits of each game. There is little purpose in falling down and not getting a whistle, taking for ever to get up, and leaving your teammates to recover the ball because you exited the game for a while.
But football is a very difficult game, maybe that is why Einstein did not write too much about it.
Are there two of you yet? Are you aware when you have split in two?
Part of me would take 4th. What is better a guaranteed 4th or a possible 3rd or 5th? All are still possible for Arsenal. 5th would not be unlike a kiss of death, it would likely result in Wenger not spending this summer.
I think it would help the PL teams in the CL and Europa league if they started to call the same game, ie the same fauls as in the rest of Europe. I think the physicality of the PL teams gets punished in the CL. You could see that even "tame" Arsenal were thrown of by the fouls called against them when we played Bayern.
Had the Stoke game been a CL game Stoke would have gotten a lot of yellow cards early on which would have forced them to play football. I think England might have the same problem in the WC.
Having said that the PL is what it is and it looks to be true that we don't like a physical game. That is why I missed Flamini, he might well have been a bit of an enforcer for us. It irks me seeing the likes of Wilshire and Giroud go down so easily.
Sanogo should get a chance but is clearly not the finished product. We should have at least one world class striker. This summer we need a nr 1 striker with Giroud and Sanogo as nr 2 and 3. Look at what City, Man U and Liverpool have upfront and you can be sure Chelsea will get there top striker this summer as well, making Torres nr2.
We desperately need as striker in the mold of RVP 2 years ago, Aguero, Suarez, Lewondowski, Costa, Dzeko etc. Giroud will never be that player, he simply does not have the talent or the physical attributes IMO.
You have the intelligence of a one celled amoeba. Clubs like Arsenal have 10's of millions of fans around the world, as do many big clubs, and only a very few can afford season tickets. The rest of us have to rely on TV or other media. I have been lucky to go to Arsenal games but far and few between because I can not afford to. Without the 10's of millions (or more) of Arsenal fans, and the same goes for all clubs, there would be no TV revenue and there would be no games for you to go watch. Not to mention the fact that even those who are rich enough and lucky enough to have season tickets can not all go see the road games like the one at Stoke.
Are you saying that fans who watch football games on TV can not have an opinion or see what is going on? You are truly a one celled amoeba albeit of enormous proportion. I honestly can not think of a single poster on this board with less apparent logic and inside in the game of football.
I like that little syndrome you named. And I have to agree with you that to some extend the players on the pitch should have been able to win but showed less interest in the game than Stoke. Compare that against the first half against Bayern and one wonders why we can't press, as a team, like we did against Bayern in every game.
You see Bayern do it in their lesser game and so did Barca. I remember Wilshire was calling for us to press high up and as a team in every game. I think he made those comments after the Sunderland game. They lads need to show some work ethic, The rest of this month is crucial, we need to take points of Chelsea and City and we need to beat Spurs.
As Wenger said, Liverpool look good with lots of rest between games.
This is probably not the time to debate what we don't have in our squad. We can reflect after the season. However one can take the view that it was clear this summer that we needed and finished product striker.
I am more concerned with finishing 4th as this would once again mean that top players won't want to come until they were sure we qualified for CL football. Finishing 3rd would be positive for not having to qualify and it would show improvement with respect to final position in the league. We can't keep finishing 4th even if we are closer to the top than before.
I don't really understand why we didn't bring in some speed earlier in the game? Arteta, Wilshire, Giroud and Pod non of these guys will worry defenders with their speed. Ox brought at least a little threat with his speed.
We pay the prize a little for not having signed a top quality striker in the last two windows.
Well done to Stoke. Not sure if we deserved much more than we got. We didn't have the individual talent today you need to create something out of nothing. As a result we really didn't create anything other than the Sanogo chance to equalize. But you get what you pay for and Sanogo is not the finished product.
We keep struggling without Flamini.
4th place here we come? I hope not.
Not sure if I share your optimism. They had some impressive results against City and Chelsea and are one of the teams we seem to struggle against. A win would be very welcome and confidence building IMO.

I like Moyes, I like him even more at Man U. I just think a manager should earn his respect. But for the avoidance of doubt I don't mean to suggest that he should be disrespected by his players. I just don't think RVP disrespected him with his comments and I agree with Keown on this issue.

That is such low quality reporting. I just saw the interview and loved Wengers reply.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger (about giving his players two days off):
"It's not necessarily fatigue, what you call fatigue. They could run on Sunday, on Monday when they were off. I don't see why that's suddenly a problem. Many clubs have two days off sometimes. We have played since the beginning of December, we don't have to justify here why we have two days off. It's unbelievable. Look, we are in a society where everyone wants to control everything; I don't understand this question at all."

I think more is made of this than there is to it. I have to agree with Keown.
Not sure what Moyes has done at this this level to deserve and respect.

You might soon discover that qualifying for the CL is better than an FA cup or League cup. I know you like counting. How many years on the trot did Arsenal qualify for CL football? Hope for you your counter on that one doesn't get reset to zero.
