I've heard this theory a few times,I think I even broached it myself after a poor result. But thinking about it, surely throwing himself into the THFC job in hand would have impressed the FA more. I don't think for a minute Harry ever took his foot off because of the England vacancy even if it did become live earlier than expected. I honestly think the Emirates game soured our season...after that we looked unmotivated and jaded, and when the Goons started to drop points we upped our game a bit, and almost got third. The Villa game was one-way traffic all the game, and with any luck we could have sewn it up long before the sending off. I think sometimes the manager is a scapegoat for poor player attitudes. I know it's his job to lift them in some ways, but at the time of our slide I think it would have taken a lot more than any manager I know. In spite of what some gooners are saying on here, we are as good as them now, and if we can bring in a couple of players, e.g. a CD and a twenty-plus striker, I believe we can top them next season. They lose players in spite of being in the CL! Modders and Bale will be hard acts to follow, but there is always someone else to pick up the banner, there always has been. Luka gave us an extra season, against his better judgement, so he would go with our thanks and good wishes. I honestly believe that it was down to Harry that he decided to stay. Plus, there's the matter of the football we have played this season...we've always tried to play the game as it should be, but Harry has had us purring with some of the exhilirating football the players have served this season, not only us, but the pundits, press and other managers. Just a couple more cons for Redknapp, but big ones IMO.

To all those who want Redknapp out, I say...be careful what you wish for. Who do we want at the Lane? Let's see - McLeish? McCarthy? Keane?...they're available, or maybe we could tempt someone like Holloway away. Any one of those could secure us a mid-table place. Or maybe we could go really exotic and get some one who has won the Albanian league twice. The best we could hope for is maybe O'Neil, but is he any better than Redknapp? Not in my opinion. Sack a manager to improve a club's fortunes, yes, but unless we get Mourinho or Pep (yeah, that's going to happen!) we might as well try to go forward with Harry. Just how I personally feel abou things and not intended as a statement of fact.

My argument is, top four is an achievement for Spurs and Redknapp regardless of the rewards. We were very unlucky not to get CL. We are now a top four club. I thought we had a shot at the title in the winter, I was wrong. I was hoping for third, and I was wrong. Since the effing emirates game we went on the slide, but picked up to stay top four. We are just unlucky not to get CL. Harry has a got a few things wrong, yes. But he has got a lot right too, and I for one appreciate what he has done. As i said...I'm gutted that we are not going into the CL qualifiers after the season we've had, but I'm proud that Harry has got us into the top four again, and not only just, but by a mile!

So fourth was no achievement, SB? It's not the fact that we didn't finish third that kept us out of the CL, it's the fact that Chelsea won it. On penalties. I'm hurting as much as you are, but the fact remains we are a top four club under Harry, and under normal circumstances, that would have given us CL football. And don't keep calling me dumb. I'm entitled to an opinion. COYS!!!

He got us fourth, SB. You hoped for fourth and we got it. It was just fate that it wasn't good enough for CL on this occasion. We won twenty games and lost only nine...so if you think anyone could have done better for us I'm listening. I wish Harry had got the England job. With fans like us, we don't deserve him.
Since you came to this club, we have played football in the true tradition of THFC, you took us from bottom...two points from eight games, to eighth beating Arsenal and Liverpool on the way, since then, we have finished Fifth and fourth twice, and two FA cup semis. Anyone who doesn't think that was not an improvement on the mid-table dross that was there before MJ and after Oneday Ramos might as well go and support a Manc Club or Arsenal. One mistake against Villa, and it seems that you aren't good enough. It wasn't your fault that top four wouldn't get us CL football, it was Chelsea's, but you will shoulder the burden from the ingrates. We are a top four club under HR for the second time, and if that's not good enough for some deluded fans on here, who accuse others of being deluded for wanting top three, he might as well retire and get Allardyce to take over.

Now we've got Scotty or Sandro as DMs his role has diminished, but he is versatile enough to have on the bench - he can play back four or he could replace any injured central midfielder, box to box or defensive, so IMO he would be an asset to the squad when fit.

No need to dig at me, SB...I've never even mentioned the Villa game on here. For the record I think we should have won it long BEFORE the sending off and substitution. We weren't good enough attacking anyway. This season we were one point behind Arsenal...that doen't make them 'much' better than us, in fact the stuff we played was far better than RVP and ten others could manage. Next season we'll see. I also happen to like Huddlestone.
- HighRoadJohn HighRoadJohn May 15, 2012 18:30 Flag
How are they a much better side than us? 1 point and identical goal difference does not make them a MUCH better side. You can't keep on about Fabregas, Nasri...they're not Arsenal players...you might as well go on about Brady and George. Unlucky about Wilshere, but nearly every team loses key players...we've been without Hud all season, plus key defenders at certain times. And when you take into account the style of football we play (I know you don't watch Spurs, Fab, so you'll have to take my word for it)...much easier on the eye than the pop-guns...lump it to RVP at all the time..hit and hope! I will say, though, it may have been quiet on here...but I've been getting heaps from gobshite gooners where I live and work! To sum up...Glad to be Spurs! We've bridged the gap.

Lighten up, Fab. It's just football. That's all, just football. Nothing more, hardly worth thinking about. Just football.

Bottom line, (IMO of course) is that most of us on here are Spurs fans first, second and last. No way should we feel guilty about wanting the best for our club. If it means poor Chelsea getting beaten by a German team, so be it. It's just a rotten situation, but I'm sure even the least brightest of the Shed would understand! If we had finished 3rd or 5th I would have 100% wanted Chelsea to bring it on home...now I don't even want to watch it. Probably will though!

SB, I forgot about the implications of Chelsea winning, I just remembered about you and fourth...could you please indulge me when I'm being humble? :-)
