I think you are both kinda right. Torres and Carroll have both been dissapointing signings for the money that was shelled out, neither have scored enough goals this season. You could however argue that Carroll just put us in the FA Cup final whilst Torres killed off a late Barca onslaught to put Chelsea in the Champions league final, that some might say, is pretty successful!

The other thing is that I think it is fair to say Torres' best is probably behind him whereas Carrolls best 'may' well be ahead of him.

Absolutely, he is definitely an excellent manager, I just dont think he is the right fit for us. For every flop he bought, he promoted a youth team player without reducing the quality, the difference was that he was maintaining a champions league and la liga winning side whereas at Liverpool, maintaining a 7/8th place side wont be a job well done. We need a good buyer not a reserve team promoter. Kenny is already doing that its just the talent pool at LFC;s academy isnt similar to Barcas!

Wee Jay got sent off down there last time around so I think he will be hungry to set that straight, rotation will be important having played late on Saturday and, of course, the FA cup final coming on Saturday. Enrique has probably played as many games as Kelly and Johnson combined so I would like to see him rested, Skrtel sat out the Norwich game too.

    ----------------------------------Reina-------------------------------
    Kelly----------Skrtel-----------------Coates--------Johnson
    -------Henderson---------Spearing----------Shelvey-------
    -----------Kuyt--------------Carroll--------------Maxi----------

Subs: Jones, Carragher, Enrique, Gerrard, Suarez, Downing, Bellamy

So who is it to be? Suarez or Kenny, sarcasm translates really badly in text! Both Torres' transfer request and Hodgesons departure were heavily on the cards, to be fair, everyone knew Torres wanted out the summer before he left!

I read that story this morning too, its not hugely suprising. Its not as though they are saying we will have £20m or £30m, its just kinda obviously pointing out it will be less then £108m! We needed a whole rebuild before, now we just need a couple of bits. Aurelio, Maxi and Kuyt to leave and like for like upgrades to replace should probably see us improve dramtically.

I think it is a fair assumption to say that Pepe and Gerrard should improve slightly next year. Suarez and Carroll should score more goals, I think thats pretty fair. Henderson and Downing will have more consistent seasons, all Downing needs do is get 1 goal and 1 assist to improve! Shelvey and Coates will be better for their experiences. Lucas will hopefully be back to his bullet proof self and Charlie Adam will hopefully not endure such a bad injury. I imagine we will see a fair bit of Raheem Sterling too.

We definitely need to spend money, we have no chance of a title tilt regardless of having £100m invested in my opinion, but we should be at least 12-15 points closer.

Of course, this article could well be complete bullsh*t and this kind of media might serve us well in terms of stirring the owners.

Loki, im not to sure about 'what we know'. Swansea came out yesterday and said there was no approach for Rodgers.

Heres the only statement by Jurgen Klopp:

“I have been made aware of interest from England, and it is an honour to be linked with big clubs in the Premier League. But I have a contract with Dortmund until 2016 and am going nowhere. I love it here and have no intention of changing clubs,”

I mean, thats not saying, Liverpool have approached me to be their manager, it just says he is aware that somewhere in England there is interest. Obviously, it is suggested its us but it could just be media and agents.

Frank De Bouer however does claim he was approached by LFC so I think it is fair to say that one was true.

Do you think this is true then Jason? I thought he wasnt interested at all? I see that Rodgers is the bookies favourite for the job now which would be dissapointing. Klopp you cant argue with, he's pretty much done what Benitez did with Valencia over in Germany and I guess it would fit with Van Gaal better. I have pretty much moved in favour of Martinez now, I like his manner and if anything, I feel a little sorry for him the way the press are second guessing everything and Dave Whelan is telling everyone his life story!

Well this may be good news although it might not be in Maxis thoughts but it seems pretty clear that Brendan is keen to keep him and that he is part of his philosophy. It seems that anyone who has a good touch and a bit of skill has a chance but if your just a workhorse your screwed!

Its clearly a major discount on the amount we paid out but I think 99.5% of the world would agree that the figure was ridiculously inflated. I think at the time with his form took into consideration, I would say his value was £22m tops. To try and get a bit of perspective Ballotelli was £18m, Aguerro £35m, both are young players and we are hearing that Cavani (in the form of his life) could be on the move for £35m.

I think to add more detail to your question it would be a case of "How much would Sturridge and Wellbeck be worth if their managers no longer wanted them?" I very much doubt that Sturridge would be anymore then £17m when in favour so maybe more like £12m? Wellbeck, I dont really see a situation right now where United wont want him but if he did fall out of favour then I assume that would be because of a dip in form so again, somewhere similar?
