Manchester United Message Board
I do wonder if games that are 'banana skins' are based on the mental attitude of the team. i.e games they go into thinking they can win without even trying. In which case, this kind of approach seems to have been drilled out of them now.
Hull aren't the 'rugby' team they were a few seasons ago and this team appear to have built up some resilience to the physical sides of late. Even Stoke were tamed by us, without us receiving one card. Steve Bruce has always put out teams to 'rough' us up, but I don't think it will work now.
The maths points towards a home win for us this weekend. Since our first game of the season disaster, we have had 5 straight home wins. Hull took a big scalp last week against Liverpool, but have only managed 1 win, and have had 5 losses away from home.
Chelsea & City are both away from home this weekend. Although neither are against formidable opponents, both have mixed form away from home. City have lost 4 of their six away games this season, but I can't see them coming unstuck against The Baggies.
The Chavs are against Sunderland away and Maureen's men have the most mixed form away from home this year. 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses. The losses from Everton and Newcastle, who are both doing well. They also lost to Basel, who aren't exactly European Elite. This one could go either way.
Liverpool shouldn't have any problems against Norwich, but it comes off the back of being beaten by Hull!
Utd could draw as Martinez has Everton playing very well (without Fellaini).
If things go as I imagine they could, the league would look:-
Rice didn't play with Adams. He went to Watford the same year Adams joined the youth squad.
Smith joined a few years after, when Rice had come back as a youth coach.
Not a great performance, but then again the other team were very poor. Strange given the quality they have in their squad. Maybe the new 75% tax regime has hit their mental state more than anyone thought it would?
Mixed in with the poor performance and a number of missed opportunities were two great goals.
One more game to go before the competition starts to heat up.
I just mentioned Mirallas and Wes Brown.
I didn't mention the Fellaini/Medel who could both have been sent off for elbows/slaps.
I only mention the Utd game as they are a competitor for the league.
You have to concede that ANY player at one of the bigger clubs is highlighted by the media whenever they step over the line.
That's how we know Rooney is a granny shagger, Terry is a #$%$, Wilshere is a little thug and Suarez is a diving vampire.
I don't put any stock in posts purely aimed at winding people up.
Excuse my French, but that's #$%$
Rooney's card was one of at least three that were highlighted as being 'wrong' this weekend.
Mirallas should have got a red and Wes Brown shouldn't.
Geez. You do play the 'victim' card an awful lot.
So you think the Cardiff player had it coming to him? ha ha
Utd's defence has lacked speed for some time. Rio should have retired and Vidic was never that fast. Time Moyes took the opportunity of using fresh blood. I think Utd's midfield is more wanting. Fellaini looks out of his depth.
Still early days, but if we continue to go on like this.........
Utd may claim they were understrength, but they have been claiming for years that their ability to win the league has been due to the strength and depth of their squad. Their best player was lucky to be on the pitch following his off the ball kick at the Cardiff player.
Spurs.....oh dear. hahahahahahahahaha.
A big win is required tomorrow night. Momentum is important to regain as soon as possible.
"all your wins were against teams at the bottom of the table."
Aston Villa were second in the league when we played them....
You've played four of the top five
You've played six of the top ten
You've played four of the bottom six
That's 14 games!
And yet you're still only 5th and 5pts behind us!
Lets see who you've beaten in the league:-
Apart from us,
Stoke - We beat them too.
Fulham - We beat them too.
Sunderland - We beat them too.
Crystal palace - We beat them too.
Swansea - We beat them too.
Who have you drawn
Chelsea - We have yet to play them.
Southampton - We will find out this weekend.
Who has beaten you?
City - We have yet to play them.
WBA - We got a draw against them.
Liverpool - We beat them.
I don't give excuses, but it appears at present, we have played a similar range of teams.
Losing three of the last six is of no consequence when you consider you lost three in six in September. And they were all League Games.
"lost three of your last six games"
One of those was a League Cup game, in which we played 5 fringe/reserve players.
One of those was a CL game against an opponent we then went on to beat away (even though everyone, including you said we didn't stand a chance of wining).
We have also beaten the team second in the premiership.
You have lost against WBA and got thrashed by City as well as got beaten by Liverpool.
I don't think Utd are exactly flying and they certainly had the worse start. They couldn't even get a result at Real Sociedad. Relative minnows in the CL.
Au contraire Sweet.
I was not aware that Butch had 'gone away'. I certainly don't remember acknowledging it in recent history, but then again, as I said before I don't pay much attention to the board.
In defending Butch against other posters/trolls. I don't go on any other boards anymore. I stick to this one, and only this one. If Butch wanted my opinion on anything, I would give it. He has never asked for my help in dealing with anyone.
Everyone knows that I have spoken to Butch away from the boards and that as far as I am concerned, anybody and everybody is welcome to post here. I get along with most of the posters from the Utd board, I wouldn't exactly term them as friends though.
