My issue with Hicks is not giving Rafa the spending power to match the top 3.. how does he expect Rafa to compete with the likes of the current top 3 if the funding isn't there?
So come on Hicks put your money where your mouth is and give Rafa at least £70m + the sales of reduntant players and we'll have a realistic chance of competing .. oh and another point.. hire a no2. for Rafa every top 3 club has an assistant manager yet we don't have one.. to my knowledge.. Rafa has done amazingly well without one but surely if we're serious about stepping up a gear then serious money pumping into the team plus an assistant manager then let the good times roll :)...

As things stand we're not good enough.. why we wasting time buying yet more defenders & midfielders? Defenders don't score us goals and midfielders do from time to time.. we need a proliffic striker to complement Torres.. and I doubt the strategy of 4-5-1 thats a very defensive formation.. a far better option would ne 3 - 5 - 2 with 2 defensive midfielders who can drop back into defence when need be which is where Gerrard & Barry come into play .. they could drop back. Then Barry can stay back in midfield as a holding player when Gerrard goes on the attack .. Babel can play week in week out in that formation .. then all we need is a very good striker.. no more buying has beens lets plunder the best the Euro 08 has to offer.. and get em young.. I'd love to see Villa here but he'd be too expensive and not only that he's 27 almost 28.. I think Silva would be a better option he could play alongside Torres in a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 formation or be on the wing which means Kuyt becomes an option for certain games..

Huntelaar would be an ideal strike partner for Torres but is Rafa gonna baulk at the £18m+ asking price Ajax want for him?
