This makes a good argument for having a #1 driver on a team. Alonso didn't have this problem at Renault, because Fisi accepted the #2 role. Michael had no issues at Ferrari because Irvine, Barichelo, and Massa all accepted that they were #2. With great talent often comes even greater egos. There are some exceptions, I'm sure, but you have to go back a ways to find a top team where there wasn't a clear separation and both drivers got along.

Definitely a gray area regarding blame, I'd say 60-40 Coultard though. Massa was alonside 2/3 of a car length, which David should have acknowlegded and gave room. Massa still goofed on the opening lap so his race was already compromised by driver error. Don't even get me started on Kimi's mistakes and the decision not to pit under the sc when the lanes were re-opened.
