Arsenal Message Board
The rumours of Arsenal putting in a bid of 30 million for Suarez came as a shock for most of us and to be honest we probably all thought it was a joke, and still may be.
We are aware that Real Madrid are looking at him and should they buy him they would probably look to let Higuain leave without to much fuss.
Is it possible that Wenger has only just got the ball rolling with a view to getting his target "Higuain" or does he really think he could pick up Suarez for less then £40 million? which is really unlikely!
There is also good news or should I say rumours of Arsen being interested in Abate, if this is true he has my vote
He is a quality full back with skill!
The other big headline is the moveback of Cesc which probably wont happen this season if at all.
Lets see what game time he gets this year now Neymar has joined Barca, it could be a different story next season but not this time.
He's used the press as an excuse to get out of Liverpool.
If he went to Arsenal and had another great season he would be touting himself again for Real Madrid or Barca, it's just in his nature!
That's assuming he doesn't go to RM this year.
He's a flawed genius that has put a lot of top clubs off by his attitude and behaviour!
He has upset the Liverpool fans so far, he might as well go the whole way and join Utd...lol
If and it's a big IF we were to sign Higuain I would expect at least a 4 year deal for the most expensive player the club would have ever bought!
The rumour is that RM are still trying to push for more money whilst Arsenal are holding out for the orginal agreed fee.
Even if we have to pay the £25 million qouted it would still represent good business for a player of his ability and also age!
If you believe the papers you will believe any thing!
We are on the brink of buying Higuain and if that does go through we have a top striker.
Rumours are flying around about Rooney and Fellaini but the latest #$%$ is we are putting in offers for Suarez or possibly Jovetic, now Juve are backing out!
Whilst I don't believe any of them will be joining Arsenal, if it was a straight decision on who should join Higuain up front, Suarez or Jovetic I would be torn between the two.
Suarez has PL experience and is a class act but has so, so much baggage and would worry me with his attitude.
Jovetic is also a top player and not so much the goal scorer like Suarez but thats what Higuain is being bought for so a false number 9 role is where I see Jovetic.
Who would we benefit from most, that's assuming it was a possibilty?
I think I would have to go for Suarez despite the grief he would bring the club, but he would bring goals too and goals win games.
To be honest if we sign Higuain and a quality midfielder plus Keeper and defender I would be happy, anything else would be a bonus!
I didn't realise Wenger had come out and said who he wanted to buy which has lead to speculation.
As for valuation of Higuain, Fellaini and whoever else, we all know that very few teams pay the actual asking price and Wenger will look for a deal everytime.
To be honest it doesn't matter if Wenger pays 50 Million for 1 player or 50 million for 3 players, just as long as they are the right players.
All our best players have came reasonably cheap so for me its whether Wenger still has the ability to find quality cheaply or has he got the ability to spend big on the right players.
This season will tell one way or another!
Recently the only talk I have heard is the ongoing saga of Higuain and Fellaini joining the ranks at the Emirates.
Surely this can't just be it, we obviously need a keeper and another defender, just in case!
Mignolet has now gone to Liverpool which raises the Reina issue and the early reports of various fullbacks and CBs have wilted.
The latest report is that Negredo wants out so will Arsen be sniffing, who knows, but the only re-occurring names are the top two.
If Arsen does pull off the Higuian deal and Fellaini or someone of that ability comes in too, then things will be moving in the right direction, we would still need a bit more quality but at least a change in policy would be shown and a light at the end of the tunnel.
The garbage about Rooney to Arsenal has now changed direction and Barca are in the frame, but assuming Arsen did make enquiries about Rooney and Negredo, who would suit Arsenal best?
Under paying wages has been the root of so many problems.
If the club are truly looking to compete again then we have no alternative but to pay comparable salaries.
Let's be honest, if we don't pay it someone else will and then you loose out on a very good player.
I guess the real question is, do Arsenal think they can get a better player for £23m and £100k a week and if so, who?
It's not over until the fat Italian lady sings.
It looks like Juve are still in the running despite the payment plan they proposed.
Being a Gooner you should know by now that nothing ever goes smoothly.
One thing is for sure if we do pick up Higuain and also Fellaini Arsenal will have more of a cutting edge about them and also more steel that we all agree is missing sometimes.
Lets not include Rooney as this will never happen!
It will be 2 big signings at most with some usual newbies with potential, leopards don't change their spots, especially over night!!!
Lets all dream and pretend that Wenger actually buys Higuain, Rooney and Fellaini.
Now that 1st 11 would scare the pants off most teams.................
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I must be dreaming!
Despite the Russian saying how much he likes Rooney I can't see Arsen buying both but if he did, what kind of message would that send out to other clubs and most of all, us fans!
I agree that I can't see Mata being sold, he really is too good to be discarded, but stranger things do happen and whilst I don't believe it, he's a player that would improve our team no problems at all.
To be honest, i can't see the Fellaini thing happening either but I do hold out for the Higuain deal as this has been going on for ages and I think there is some truth in it!
I wouldn't be surprised if we only brought in 2 players and then Arsen see's how it goes, and come January if we are finding it tuff go back in to the market for more players.
I guess defensively it's all about if players leave before any come in!
This is the player we should have bought when we had the chance!
So many rumours about the Happy One not wanting MATA, if this was true then we should be in like a light.
Reading some articles about the players to come in and supposedly reliable sources claim that Arsen is only after 3 players, a CF, AM and DM.
If we are right in assuming that Higuain and Fellaini are top targets then Mata would surely fill that AM spot.
However, I belive that ship has sailed long ago, but the thought of Cazorla, Wilshere and Mata heading the midfield and Fellaini/Arteta/Ramsey acting as DM is mouth watering.

The questions are, does he want to leave Utd and would he move to Arsenal.
I don't think Arsenal would match his current salary structure so some give and take would be needed even if he was to be considered by Wenger.
He is one of a few players that nearly every club in the world would want in their squad.
I don't think SAF and Rooney saw Eye to Eye as Rooney is very head strong and his own person and SAF is more use to controlling people at the club and probably found Rooney too much hard work, but that's just my opinion.
Still a great player and would do well at any club.
How difficult is it working out the true value of a player?
If you buy a house you look at what other property has gone for in the local area which gives a guideline but with players it doesn't work that way.
Lets look at players like Aspas whos 25 and gone to Liverpool for 7.7 million and Shurrle whos 22 and now at Chelsea for 18 million.
Would you say that Fellaini who has a release clause at 23 million is more valueable then either of these players or he is equal in value to Jovetic who has been priced similar to Fellaini?
The point I am making is there is a big difference between a release clause and the value of a player but working out the value aspect is very difficult.
I am not deffending Wenger here but when you are Chelsea or City you can spend 5 million more then the player is worth and not flinch OR in the case of Torres and Carrol 20 million.
I dont blame Wenger for trying to get a better deal then what's on offer and trying to buy a player for his true value is hard especially when you don't have an accurate yard stick to measure buy.
For Wenger things have now changed and he has to take risks with the valuation of players and if it means paying more then you wanted, it's a step he will need to take.
Chelsea, City, Utd are buying big again and when Spuds sell Bale for 85 million they will have money to spend.
So despite the valuation of players going through the roof, it's a question of having to play ball with them or loose out bigger in the long run!
I am constantly hearing and reading Stewart Robsons comments on Wenger and the club, and to be honest he really doesn't have a good word to say about anything Arsenal, especially Wenger!
He is now sounding like a broken record and full of sour grapes, he needs to get over what ever problem he has and show support for the club.
A blind man can see that Arsenal have been treading water for years but the tide is changing and he should wait until Wenger has brought in the players for this season before slagging off players associated with Arsenal as these are just names that have been linked through idle rumours, we all know that 99% of the names are made up to generate stories and agents stimulating movement for their clients.
The simple truth is, Gazidis has publicly stated that Wenger now has the financial clout to source players of Rooney's value but at no point as Arsenal stated which players they are looking to bring in, so how can Robson start criticising Wengers new purchases.
We all have an opinion on what Wenger should be doing and the type of players he should bring in but I don't believe Arsenal need Robsons acidic comments and his negativity towards Arsenal and the manager.
He can say, "I told you so" next May if he's right!

It's right in saying the club has tread water for 7 seasons and to say the club hasn't sold it's better players over that period to finance lesser players coming in and the building of the stadium would be a blinkered view!
However, the tide has changed now and there can be no excuses why we can't compete for the better players.
The club has more money then ever to spend and there is no where the manager can hide if he gets it wrong this year.
A top 4 is always a minimum requirement but a trophy is now essential.
To show progress Arsenal need a top 2 finish, a trophy and a good run in the CL.
The question is, can Arsen buy the players to deliver this? I think he can!
This boy needs to keep his mouth shut, he was plucked from obscurity and given a spot in a top club and just because Pepe Lapue makes noises about him he all of a sudden thinks he's the dogs!
If he has a concern he should speak with the management privately but publicly come out and support the team that gave him his break!
This will be the first season in years that Arsenal have declared to have money to spend, so lets wait and see what they do with that money before making threats.
It makes you wonder how much these players want to play for Arsenal, there's just not enough respect or loyalty from players now days......
Based on a 4-2-3-1 formation (At least 2 players for every spot)
Extremely unlikely, but should it happen then I honestly believe the title will be a realistic target for 2013/14
Lets live in hope!

I think the question is, is Jovetic worth 25 million, I don't know?
Wenger obviously doesn't think he is OR he feels he could buy a better player for 25 million!
It's hard pricing up players and working out their true value but I assume you look at someone like Higuain who is supposedly worth 20 million which means Jovetic is probably worth less.
I want Arsen to bring in top players and they wont come cheap, but if it means paying way over the top for a player who is not proven on the biggest stage then I'm not sure!
There is no guaruntee that Jovetic is going to be a top goal scorer because his history doesn't indicate that!
If you are prepared to pay 25 mil for Jovetic then you might as well go the whole way and pay 30 mil for Isco!
I don't want Wenger to be a tight wad no more, but I don't want him to loose sight of the clubs needs.
And the club needs 5 players, Keeper, Fullback, Centreback, Midfielder, Forward.
What ever his money is at the moment, only 2 other clubs (City & Chelsea) can afford him.
If he drops his wages to 150k a week then Arsenal could be seen as a possible alternative.
If he wants the big money he will need to go abroad.
I assume his wife will have something to say about living overseas, he can hardly speak English let alone learning another language!
