Arsenal Message Board
He's used the press as an excuse to get out of Liverpool.
If he went to Arsenal and had another great season he would be touting himself again for Real Madrid or Barca, it's just in his nature!
That's assuming he doesn't go to RM this year.
He's a flawed genius that has put a lot of top clubs off by his attitude and behaviour!
He has upset the Liverpool fans so far, he might as well go the whole way and join Utd...lol
If and it's a big IF we were to sign Higuain I would expect at least a 4 year deal for the most expensive player the club would have ever bought!
The rumour is that RM are still trying to push for more money whilst Arsenal are holding out for the orginal agreed fee.
Even if we have to pay the £25 million qouted it would still represent good business for a player of his ability and also age!
I didn't realise Wenger had come out and said who he wanted to buy which has lead to speculation.
As for valuation of Higuain, Fellaini and whoever else, we all know that very few teams pay the actual asking price and Wenger will look for a deal everytime.
To be honest it doesn't matter if Wenger pays 50 Million for 1 player or 50 million for 3 players, just as long as they are the right players.
All our best players have came reasonably cheap so for me its whether Wenger still has the ability to find quality cheaply or has he got the ability to spend big on the right players.
This season will tell one way or another!
Under paying wages has been the root of so many problems.
If the club are truly looking to compete again then we have no alternative but to pay comparable salaries.
Let's be honest, if we don't pay it someone else will and then you loose out on a very good player.
I guess the real question is, do Arsenal think they can get a better player for £23m and £100k a week and if so, who?
It's not over until the fat Italian lady sings.
It looks like Juve are still in the running despite the payment plan they proposed.
Being a Gooner you should know by now that nothing ever goes smoothly.
One thing is for sure if we do pick up Higuain and also Fellaini Arsenal will have more of a cutting edge about them and also more steel that we all agree is missing sometimes.
Lets not include Rooney as this will never happen!
It will be 2 big signings at most with some usual newbies with potential, leopards don't change their spots, especially over night!!!
Lets all dream and pretend that Wenger actually buys Higuain, Rooney and Fellaini.
Now that 1st 11 would scare the pants off most teams.................
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I must be dreaming!
Despite the Russian saying how much he likes Rooney I can't see Arsen buying both but if he did, what kind of message would that send out to other clubs and most of all, us fans!
I agree that I can't see Mata being sold, he really is too good to be discarded, but stranger things do happen and whilst I don't believe it, he's a player that would improve our team no problems at all.
To be honest, i can't see the Fellaini thing happening either but I do hold out for the Higuain deal as this has been going on for ages and I think there is some truth in it!
I wouldn't be surprised if we only brought in 2 players and then Arsen see's how it goes, and come January if we are finding it tuff go back in to the market for more players.
I guess defensively it's all about if players leave before any come in!

The questions are, does he want to leave Utd and would he move to Arsenal.
I don't think Arsenal would match his current salary structure so some give and take would be needed even if he was to be considered by Wenger.
He is one of a few players that nearly every club in the world would want in their squad.
I don't think SAF and Rooney saw Eye to Eye as Rooney is very head strong and his own person and SAF is more use to controlling people at the club and probably found Rooney too much hard work, but that's just my opinion.
Still a great player and would do well at any club.

It's right in saying the club has tread water for 7 seasons and to say the club hasn't sold it's better players over that period to finance lesser players coming in and the building of the stadium would be a blinkered view!
However, the tide has changed now and there can be no excuses why we can't compete for the better players.
The club has more money then ever to spend and there is no where the manager can hide if he gets it wrong this year.
A top 4 is always a minimum requirement but a trophy is now essential.
To show progress Arsenal need a top 2 finish, a trophy and a good run in the CL.
The question is, can Arsen buy the players to deliver this? I think he can!
This boy needs to keep his mouth shut, he was plucked from obscurity and given a spot in a top club and just because Pepe Lapue makes noises about him he all of a sudden thinks he's the dogs!
If he has a concern he should speak with the management privately but publicly come out and support the team that gave him his break!
This will be the first season in years that Arsenal have declared to have money to spend, so lets wait and see what they do with that money before making threats.
It makes you wonder how much these players want to play for Arsenal, there's just not enough respect or loyalty from players now days......

I think the question is, is Jovetic worth 25 million, I don't know?
Wenger obviously doesn't think he is OR he feels he could buy a better player for 25 million!
It's hard pricing up players and working out their true value but I assume you look at someone like Higuain who is supposedly worth 20 million which means Jovetic is probably worth less.
I want Arsen to bring in top players and they wont come cheap, but if it means paying way over the top for a player who is not proven on the biggest stage then I'm not sure!
There is no guaruntee that Jovetic is going to be a top goal scorer because his history doesn't indicate that!
If you are prepared to pay 25 mil for Jovetic then you might as well go the whole way and pay 30 mil for Isco!
I don't want Wenger to be a tight wad no more, but I don't want him to loose sight of the clubs needs.
And the club needs 5 players, Keeper, Fullback, Centreback, Midfielder, Forward.
What ever his money is at the moment, only 2 other clubs (City & Chelsea) can afford him.
If he drops his wages to 150k a week then Arsenal could be seen as a possible alternative.
If he wants the big money he will need to go abroad.
I assume his wife will have something to say about living overseas, he can hardly speak English let alone learning another language!

For the first time in ages the defence looks like they are fighting for each other and even Per is doing bloody well, and he was being slated at the start of the season.
With the right players coming in as you said, we could seriously challenge next season.
Jovetic to me is a false number 9 which is OK if you have a top goal scorer sittting front of him which we don't have.
Wenger needs to go crazy and spend big to replace RVPs goal contribution.
Higuain looks very good for the suggested money and Lewandoksi is the standard we should be looking at!
Now it's weeks of speculation and possible dissapointment with the transfer market, just hope Wenger grows some for the 2013/14 season!
Well done Spuds, you tried very hard this season, but you do every season dont you!
It will be interesting to see what your team looks like next seson without Bale!
Rooney is still a very good player but he isn't the main man at Utd anymore and that's got under his skin.
Rooney is worth around 25 million at 225k a week, Lewandowski is around the same money but would be on around 125k a week and there are loads of top players at the same price range for less wages so clubs probably wont go after Rooney because of the salary he would expect.
Rooney isn't the player he was and although he is still very good there are other players I would rather see in a an Arsenal shirt, BUT, he would still be a good addition if the price was right!
We have been burnt at Arsenal by paying top wages to players and then they don't deliver, then it's a nightmare trying to sell them on, because no one can afford their salaries and they wont drop to move!
Rooney to Arsenal is very unlikely and I think the money could be spent better elswhere.
3 year deal at 225k per week = 35,100,000 + purchase 25 million total 60 million over 3 years.
Jovetic and Higuain worth 40 million and both on about 100k a week = just over 70 million for 3 years
For the extra 3.5 million a year I would rather have 2 players like the two mentioned!
I certainly wouldn't say know to Benteke, but the board might say no to the price tag.
Players tend to be over priced in the PL and the board might see things differently, but i really like the boy, he has a strikers instinct.
1 more season like he has had and the value goes right up, so do we get in quick?
There has also been talk of Bony too!
Le Prune, you really are a piece of work mate. You come on an Arsenal board to try and stick the key in and wind people up with your blinkered view through Manc tinted glasses..
I think it really is a question of the pot calling the kettle black regarding anyone being slow.
Everybody else saw the point I made about the fact that all teams key players get injured, but not you!. Why is that?
The point you are making suggests that every other clubs medical team are a bunch of quacks and only Utd can manage injuries.
Do you think clubs employ surgeons or something, obviously not. psml
When a player who is worth a fortune gets injured, the clubs all consult with the very best specialists around and that's world wide.
The clubs simply work on the rehabilitation of the player and get him back to match fitness ASAP, but even an idiot can see that no manager or club would bring a player back prematurely if he thought the player was going to break down during a game!
To what end?
Are you telling me that if Utd was in a CL final and Rio needed a pain killer injection Fergwood wouldn't give it to him to get him through the game, of course he would.
Bye the way, congratulations on winning the league this season, it appears all the hard work Arsenal put in to getting RVP fit and match ready last year paid off for you!
Like you I just want honesty and for the board to come out and say it like it is.
The problem is the board didn't say we were going to struggle over the coming years whilst we bought the stadium, they said we were still going to compete whilst we paid the debts but selling our best players, which is dilusional!
There can be no excuses next season, so it's then I will jump on the managers back if things don't go the way they should!
Just a few quality signings is all we need, believe!
How long was Vidic out for and doesn't Rio have a regime of pain management for his back.
The fact is every top club has key players that are used more then others and get targeted more then others, just the way it is!
That's a hell of a lot of money to spend over an 8 year period but how much has he returned to the club in sales?
I think the biggest problem for Arsenal has been balancing the books whilst they paid off the stadium.
IF the club is still no better off in 2 years time I will hold my hands up and say you are all right, Wenger has done a #$%$ job and the board have been no better.
However, if we start to challenge for trophies again and the squad is full of quality players as of old then the clubs game plan has been a success.
The club wanted a new stadium to attract more supporters, increase the brand name to attract sponsors but without putting the club at financial risk, only time will tell if they got it right.
If the Arabs, Yanks and Russians pulled out of the big 3 tomorrow could they stand on their own two feet, I suspect only Utd could!
The club has made scarifices over the last 8 years and none more then the supporters but for most of us who have supported them for the last 40 odd years we have seen an approach that has safeguarded the future of the club and not many teams in the world can say they are a safe business with no real debts and can still play in the games biggest competitions.
All Arsenal now need is a little bit more quality up front and through the spine and we are back in the game.
