I dont think that would work cos the 11 on the not so pretty team would just go into a strop and refuse to play. Surely mixing up the 22 would avoid any unwanted inter girl tension while not detracting from the overall 22 girl lovliness.

Absolutely Ian, Ronaldo is the best in the world on current form (only Kaka comes near) and has probably had the most productive and influential season of anyone on the planet but 1 great season is not enough to be ranked in with the all-time greats.

Pele won 3 world cups and scored over 1000 goals, Maradona wan a world cup practically on his own, even Zidane was the best in the world for at least 5 years in a row.

Ronaldo and Rooney (alomg with Kaka and Messi) have the potential to put themselves in that bracket but they aint there yet.

If you to would like to get a private room, I just want to say one thing on the original topic in this thread:

I'd love it we beat them, love it!

Thinking about it, it would probably be easier to call if it was after the season had actually finished. If Utd win the title, it will have been vastly due to Rooney's excellence, If Chelski hold on, I'm sure the spirit, heart and determination of JT will have been the deciding factor.

I disagree, it's definately the midfield that's our problem, the defence don't get enough cover from them and so look exposed lots of the time.

As regards starting 4, i think we have the best midfield in the prem, Scholes, giggs carrick and ronaldo would take some beating but as soon as we lose on e of them for any amount of time (which is bound to happen with giggs and scholes being the age they are) we struggle big time. Fletcher, o'shea and richardson are good players, but nowhere near the quality we need to be challenging for honors.

We're very very close to having a great team but until we get at least one more world class midfield player in it aint gonna happen.

I think that's partly the reason Fergie made him captain when Keane left, You want a captain who's always going to be in the side when available.

I don't think complacency will be an issue with Neville, he's been first choice at right back for over 10 yrs now and has anyone ever seen him not give his all for the team? He's a utd fan as well as a player and I have no worries about him in that respect.

The worrying thing is that he's getting on a bit now and we don't seem to have anyone ready made to replace him, Bardsley looks good and some time in the SPL will toughen him up for sure but he's hardly setting the place alight.

Fair enough he's having a poor season by his standards, but everyone must admit that those standards a pretty high. He's stillamong the top scorers and is one of the major performers in a team top of the league and still in 2 cups.

I think the route of the problem is the world cup. He was rushed back far too soon from a serious injury, and also missed out on pre season, which is important for any player, let alone one coming back from injury.

I reckon next season he'll have a much higher level of performance with a proper break and rigourous pre-season regime behind him.

Imagine how good we'd be to watch with him AND Ronaldo at the top of their game!

As for Wayn'es England displays, he's not the only 'star' name failing to deliver, it's obvious that the team spirit and morale is lacking and the management don't seem to be able to do anything about it. As a semi boro-boy, I have a soft spot for McLaren and believe their performances on that Uefa cup run last year show that he can get a team to gel and instill good spirit, but he's definately living on borrowed time at the moment.

I think you're right. It was gonna happen soon enough anyway and it's better for the rest of the squad, especially the younger ones, not to have the situation hanging over them. SAF may not be perfect but at least he has the balls to make tough decision's when he think's they're needed.

I also think that the European exit is a blessing in disguise. We were nowhere near good enough and would just have been embarassed in the next round anyway. Now with no Champs league distractions the club can concentrate on what we've been needing to do for a couple of years. Namely rebuilding what we have into another top premiership side and going on from there
