I like the fact that he cant "track back" because one thing spurs seem to have forgotten of late is that you win football matches by scoring more goals than the other guys and you do that by being in the opponents half.

Well done Harry last year, yeah. This year he has been out of his comfort zone. It started to show a few weeks ago. He's gone from the bloke with the cheeky quips to the bloke with the chippy quirks. He sounds like a man fatigued to me. Total inconsistency when talking to the press.

Last year we won this fixture.

Not a bad thing living within your means.

But I reckon that Levy is being a bit canny with the purchases because he doesn't know how long 'arry has left.

Harry is in court soon which has a possibility of a custodial sentence and has been widely linked with the England job and has publicly stated that he would take it if offered.

So maybe the board are hedging their bets. If that is the case I don't know why they didn't replace Harry this summer, although i suspect it may have something to do with compensation.

Either way Ade baby ain't a bad move if the long streak of piss can hold the ball up and develop play, which is what the team was sorely lacking last term.

Games people play eah. It ain't all football ya know.

Just a point on the Verthongen comment. No he didn't get taken by Lukaku although he (Lukaku) was a handful.

He did however get rugby tackled to the ground just prior to the WBA goal which was a blatant foul missed by the officials and then in the dying seconds put the ball in the net. Don't know why the goal was disallowed. Anyone know?

05/06 Jol was appointed coach, when Santini was appointed Manager. Given the timing and the way in which Santini walked out the board had little choice other than to promote Jol from coach to manager.

Jol inherited a squad of players and coached them to 5th position, missing out on champions league by 1 point. Great Job.

06/07 Now Jol is manager and in the close season went full scale into the transfer market and made wholesale changes. More talented individual players, worse team. They finish 5th again but with a grater points gap between 4th and 5th.

07/08 This season more transfers and judging by the performance of the team so far, although it’s very early on, the team looks to me as though it is not quite as good as last season. Time will tell.

Before his appointment at Spurs Jol had made a name for himself as a very good coach. I heard Ferguson interviewed him for the number 2 position at Man U. He obviously felt that he needed experience with an experienced manager as he accepted that same position at Spurs under Santini. Last two seasons seem to bear that out. He is learning as he goes. Spurs choice is either stay with him as he learns the job or appoint someone who has demonstrable qualifications.

One other thing. The timing of the board’s play for Ramos was a disgrace. Totally amateurish. Shame on you Comolli and Levy.

I think your right. Harry did mess up a bit in this game. I saw Modrics face when Harry was asking him to keep up with play with twenty minutes to go. He was like "are you kiddin' me?". He was spent. He'd been running non stop trying to do two mens work. We were overwhelmed in the middle of the park in the second half and only looked slightly better when Keano come on and helped out by dropping back and covering some of the space being dominated by Chelsea. I also didn't understand why he brought Crouch on for Defoe when we wern't coping in the middle of the park. Hitting Crouch for the knock downs was never gonna work when we were defending way to deep to take advantage. I agree it would have been better if he had brought Kean on for Pav at the time when Modric was finding it tough going.

Hopefully we can get the results over the Christmas period. COYS.

I think you’ll find that the reason people are upset is because Saturday was beyond disappointing. Disappointment is what you get when your team plays well but doesn’t get the result. That’s not what happened

Where did the fight go? No passion no pride no direction in what should have been a fight to the death attitude game. Why did they look tired and confused? Why were they half a yard slower than Arsenal?

This team still hasn't gelled as a unit, they are disjointed. Jol needs to get some steel in midfield and get a joined up team attitude before the Premiership form becomes even more embarrassing. NO GOALS IN OPEN PLAY AWAY FROM HOME IS BEYOND A JOKE.

Spurs under Jol have invested in better players every season which is essential to revitalising the club to compete with the best. But every season it has taken longer for the team to get it together. Spurs now have very good players in all positions, and should on paper be easily competing with in the top six of the Premiership. F**k Terry or Ferdinand when you’ve got King and Dawson, f**k A.Cole, Chimbonda is easily as good, Berbatovs display against Wigan was pure class, as was Defoe’s goal.

I Thought the Chelsea game was the turning point, but the display at Reading and then Arsenal shows a bad lack of confidence. Martin Jol and Chris Hughton get your act together.

Similar team to last year. Will be interesting to see if Ramos can make them winners.
