Gatusso I would like because he is very energetic, good passer, tackles hard and has good vision. He has also expressed his interest to play at Old Trafford before. Deco has done great things at Barca, he was also the driving force behind Portugal at the Euro's, but would they let him go? SAF could also just go for someone like Gravesen as a short term solution for 1-2 years to give the younger players time to settle into first team play. At any rate, I would like to see a guy who will put the fear of god into any midfielder or forward wondering about in the middle of the pitch with the ball. Someone who makes people cringe when they hear him coming.

He has been frighteningly good this year. A lot of players would have given up already after what he went through. Something to be said for SAF on how he supports injured players (Saha, Ole, Ruud when he wasn't even signed yet...). Saha deserves all the credit for even making it back to the team, now he adds so much finesse up front to Rooney's strenght, pace and agression, and Ruud's killer instinct. The Blackburn and Fullham games were so much fun to watch when all three were involved (and Ronaldo too, I am happy to be fed my criticism of him back to me...).

I think Scholes looked subpar this year (and last) because Rooney often occupies the same space he used to run into to score. I fear he may be done anyways, so the situation might be rhetorics only. I would say first priority a defensive midfielder, the secon a creative one. I also don't like too much reliance on Saha, as he is very injury prone. That's why I hope that stories of this supposed fallout with RVD are crap, because I don't see Saha lasting an entire campaign.
