Chelsea are always a good bet to get a quality player or two from, as they have so many, not everyone can play, and some are going to get dis-illusioned. regular first team quality everywher else except Chelsea. Agents have too much at stake, so if I read this correctly...Villa agent and liverpool agent will be sitting in a country pub somewhere right now..., thrashing out a deal that is acceptable to both parties. It will happen..and the longer it gets drawn out, so the agents wallet's will get fatter. BUT... Who will be the loser's here?. Of course, the fan's...the very one's who as Mike i pointed out...work their fingers (was going to say balls but yahoo censor will cross that out) off to pay the astronomical wages these prima donas get. then they crap on them and go for their own personal gratification.
I haven't missed the point main point Dave...what you say is very true...but one point that Barry, and others before him seem to miss is that to get their ridiculas pay packet's, they instruct their agents to thrash out the very deal they now want releasing from. Paul Ince and Neville Southall were classic examples in the past.
On the basis that (with the greatest of respect) you are saying...it is only LFC, Chelski, ManU and @rsenal that will only ever qualify for the EC, and on that basis, Barry should be allowed to leave so he can take advantage of the unique position LFC are in. BUT.....It was a pretty close run thing last season just who was going to be in that top 4. Only the final weeks sorted that, when Villa due to the smallest squad in the premier fell away through exhaustion....Everton to a degree also were unlucky. I expect Spurs to run you close next season too. What happens if (hyperthetically) LFC dont get out of the group stages of the EC and fail to finish in the top 4 next season? Do all the LFC players throw their toy's out of the pram and demand a move to (Villa) because they have qualified?

It was only when he came back from England duty that this happened as the situation hadn't occured before he went away with England..so why should he say something before going as the situation hadn't been created then?. ...MoN hasn't said no...he has actually said yes...if Liverpool pay the price tag...after all Villa do own his contract, which you acknowledge. If Barry had been away on England duty do you think MoN would have run all over Europe after him? ...of course not...so why should MoN stay at home when he had accepted a commentators role in the Euro 2008 just to pacify Barry. It is Barry who wants to bring this to a head...but he is throwing his toy's out of the pram when MoN expect's him to either honour his contract. or move on after getting the price Villa put on his head. OK, Rafa may not think he is worth it...well Rafa put a price of £15M on Crouch....and no one else thinks he is worth that,?
Barry should remember he is an employee of Villa, not the other way round. I don't think he is being overvalued.........when compared like for like with Carrick and Hargreaves, who as it has been already stated went for more. Just why Rafa thinks he can get Barry on the cheap is strange. Yes it will be interesting to see how this can be resolved if Barry has to stay....but it is Barry's bed now...he...NOT MoN created it...now Barry will have to sleep in it. I don't think it should have been MoN who should have to have done the grovelling and he has earned alot of respect for making the stand. Onus is on barry and Rafa now...not MoN.
